Geo Pro G19FD bearings

Just bought a (lightly used??) 2018 G19 non-off-road single axle.

I greased the wheel bearings and it took a ton of grease (1.5 tubes). However, I don’t think there was much (if any) grease previously in there.

I’ve never torn one of these axles apart. Will removing the drum etc destroy the seals? I’d like to inspect to ensure no damage as I’m getting ready for a 2k trip.

Or should I just replace anyway and play it safe? Are the races etc pressed on or just slide off?

It’s not surprising you used so much grease if you used the ez-lube, it is a big cavity to fill.

Just removing the drum will not destroy the grease seals, but removing the seal to check/repack the inner bearing will. You don’t have to replace the bearings unless they’re bad, nor do you replace the races unless replacing the bearings.

If I were about to embark on a 2k mile trip I would inspect and repack the bearings. It is not a hard job, but is a bit messy. Look up the bearing maintenance on the manufacturers website if you don’t have the manual, and watch some you-tubes.

Thanks, that’s what I was thinking. Not opposed to replacing just didn’t want to get to go in completely unprepared.

Bonus question: anybody know the part number for seals? I have the manual at home but thought I might try to order today...

Note: assumes replacing inner+outer wheel bearings for a single axle trailer.

Husky 30828 seals (come as pair, need one package per axle)

Timken SET4 - L44649/L44610 (Come individual, need two packages per axle)

Timken SET17 - L68111/L68149 (Come individual, need two packages per axle)
