Geo Pro Newbie questions (pretty basic)
so we are about 10 days out from delivery of 2020 Geo Pro 19FD.
We're pretty excited. Already got a trip on RV Parky to Nine mile Canyon Wellington UT in Sept.
Hopefully we will have it figured out by then with shorter local trips.
Couple of questions : Hook up adapters ; is a single 115/30 sufficient or could you get into a situation when only a 50 is available on the post ?
How often to run a cleaner thru the black tank when dumping ? do you prefer to measure powder or liquid or use a pre measured pod ?
For you other Geo Pro'ers is there any thing we should watch out for as we break in this trailer ??
Thanks, R n D

Congratulations on your new rig! We don't have your rig, but your questions are pretty generic.
You can run into a situation where only a 50 is available on the post. They make 50 to 30 amp adapters and it's a good idea to carry one in your rig.
You add a blackwater tank treatment to the tank along with a some water when you start using your rig. Water is your friend and your tank should be at least 2/3 full before dumping. You don't run a cleaner through after dumping, but some people fill the tank with water again and dump to help clean it out. Then you close up the tank and dump the grey water to clean out the hose. Then repeat from adding blackwater tank treatment.
We use the packets, but that's just for convenience. Any form will work.

Thanks Reverse ; I had seen the 30/50 adapters and it looked like it was one of those things you don’t use often but not much else will work.
Tabs looked easy and convenient to me. It was the sequence I had no clue on ; likely it will com up during the PDI but it is always good to have some background

Not important while your TT is new, but given the dry climate of where you are, every once in a while blow some compressed air into the flame flue of the water heater and fridge to clear out dust/debris mud dauber nests. I'm sometimes amazed at what comes out of there.
Spending your first night in "camp driveway" will help you become familiar with your water/heat systems before you venture out on your first trip.
There are various solutions for keeping your black tank clean. Become familiar with using the search box near the top of this page.
Happy camping.

Thanks Hang. No question that the unit will be in the driveway for a bit. We have one of Utah’s top 5 State Parks just 3 miles down the road also. We plan on some real short local getaways as familiarization runs

I've never come across that. Only been to 4 parks so far though. I have heard of cases where the 30 amp outlet is worn out, and it was better to have an adaptor to plug into the 50. You never want a loose connection, heat/fire hazard.

I don't use any cleaner, other than to pour some liquid black tank treatment in after dumping/flushing. Orange stuff from Walmart works fine for us.
For you other Geo Pro'ers is there any thing we should watch out for as we break in this trailer ??
Don't put heavy stuff like a cast iron griddle in the compartment below oven. There is only a crappy piece of paneling secured with 2 screws to the floor in back of compartment. Something pushes against panel, it will fall back and compress flexible heat ducting to bathroom.
Test all systems ASAP, my A/C unit was bad the first time we used it in driveway in the Spring.
Keep an eye on flexible hose plumbing in water filter compartment. I had five loose clamps (crimp style, could not be tightened)that all started slow drips in under a year.
Make sure you have all tools required to change a tire, lower spare. The trailer does not come with any.
Don't drill/screw into rear wall. It is super thin, and I put a screw all the way through wall attempting to mount the towel hanger. I got this instead, and screwed it into wood linen closet. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Seriously consider an overnight right in your own driveway to learn all your systems. So much less frustrating than being somewhere and trying to figure it out on the fly. Also, you have tools at home that you may not have with you. And if you forget something, you just need to go into house and get it. This will help you figure out what things you really need that you forgot to pack.

I strongly urge you to create a camping list for food items, tools, and even clothes to bring. As you go through your initial run through add items that become necessary. Certainly helps to be prepared [emoji106][emoji631]

consider a TPMS, many use the TST brand... can save you grief knowing that a tire is going bad before it actually blows... I find a 20 AMP to 30 AMP adapter essential to hook my trailer to my home circuits, without having to go to the expense of custom wiring an outlet.

Congrats on new TT. I had a 2019 Geo Pro 19FBS and was real happy with it. I watched a lot of youtube videos on flushing black water tank and i see you already have gotten good advice from this great forum. My biggest takeaways from first couple times camping was- Be sure you have water going to water heater before turning on electric to it. Dont want to burn it out. Put some water in fresh water tank while home, flush toilet and use sink and get familiar with flushing grey and black water tank in right sequence when it is clean water. Befor screwing anything into walls maybe try command strips that can easily be removed.

Watch YouTube videos for the various aspects of setup & breakdown for TT camping. That was very helpful for me as a newbie.
Just know that you will find screws laying around after a few segments of towing! They just jiggle loose.

For the toilet I prefer the self-dissolving packets. Less apt to have spills. Their main function is odor control.

Camping
I would get a 50 amp to 30 amp doggone from Walmart, just in case that is all the campground has left. We use Happy Camper powder after every dump. When flushing use a full bowl, form the sign of a cross w/ toilet paper for solids. The sensors are problematic regardless of what you do. We try to use the built-in rinser for the black tank when we have full hook-ups. We also try to leave about 2 gallons of clean water in the black water tank after dumping. Get a good set of the orange leveling blocks. I really like the Anderson drive on ramp for changing flat tires. You avoid trying to find the best place to put a jack w/ torsion axels. Also very handy for lubing bearings on tandem axels.

This cracked me up. I get the full bowl part and do that as well. But do you think putting crossed strips of toilet paper in the bowl will neatly wrap up waste like a little present? I would like to see a video of this.

Black water
Makes a cross helps waste slide in w/o sticking to plastic toilet bowl. Prevents leaving smelly stuff. Works for me.

Congratulations on your new e-pro. We have a 2018 e-pro 19fbs and we love it.
We’ve camped in ours over a dozen times. Several were week long trips. We must be lucky because we had a damaged cabinet door as the one an only problem. Dealer had replacement sent to our home.
We use drop in pods for our toilet. One neat extra we get on the e-pro is the black tank back flush.
Enjoy your new camper!

Hahaha, crazy! I've never had any issues with 'stickage' with a full bowl of water, and I doubt my diet is any better than yours! But you are in TX and all that BBQ may get problematic....

Not geopro specific, but I think a 50 to 30 and a 30 to 15 amp adapter are essentials. It's not unusual for 30 amp plugs to be worn from use, and having the 50 gives you another option that may work better. Also the 30 to 15 is useful at home when you're loading up. You can run everything but the AC without having to do any new wiring on the house.
Sorry, but the cross thing sounds ridiculous. Make sure you put a few gallons of water in the black tank before you start using it. Drop in whatever treatment you like, and flush liberally when you go. Don't trust the sensors. When the tanks start getting full, you'll know. You can see the stuff in the black tank by looking down, and the gray tank will back up into your tub a little.
If I'm at a full hookup, I usually dump mine when the sensors get to 3/4 full to be safe.

Important consideration - One axle trailers tend to have heavier tongue weights (as a percentage of the dry trailer weight) than dual axle trailers. It was necessary for us to use a weight distribution hitch to reduce the weight on our tow vehicle's rear axle and just create better weight distribution. There are a lot of WDH (weight distribution hitch) conversations in these forums. I'd suggest understanding all the weight issues and the importance of proper weight distribution and how a WDH works. If you click on Forums (this website), go down to Forest River Tech Talk, you'll find the topic - Towing, Tow Vehicles, Hitches & Toads. You'll find helpful info here. Good luck!
