GPS Tracker under Rockwood 2511??

Does anyone know the purpose of this black box with a red light and an antenna under my Rockwood 2511s? It is powered from inside the power distribution box. It sure looks like a GPS tracker, but I want confirmation before I call the dealer to ask them why they put it on my camper without telling me.

I found it while looking for the inline fuse to my Solera Power Awning.

It's definitely a repeater for the TPMS.

You might be right because it does have the TPMS system installed from FR.

It does not have a backup camera system installed, but I plan to add one in the near future.

EDIT: Thanks for the confirmation! I see there were a couple of replies while I was typing my message.

Whew! I am glad it was not what I originally thought...

They only put the GPS trackers on RVs with high risk loans

As everyone has mentioned, it is the TPMS repeater.

I find it interesting the factory chose to bury the repeater/antennas under wiring and mount it right up against the metal box. Geez... give you something nice and then do their damndest to make it not work from the standpoint of poor quality workmanship.

That is what I thought too. And since I paid for mine in full, I was going to give the dealer an earful!

Thanks again for all the helpful replies. After searching for the part number I found on the backside, I was able to locate a similar looking TPMS booster on the etrailer.com website.

As for the location, I agree it is not ideal to be sandwiched between a metal frame, a metal box and a large bundle of copper wires. If I have problems with the TPMS, I might extend the wires and locate it further away from all of the metal.

FWIW, that red spot is an indicator that the repeater has power. I mounted mine on my tongue jack. Seeing red when I'm parking it for storage reminds that I forgot to flip the battery disconnect.

I believe it has only a stub of a wire to connect it to power. That being the case, they mounted it as close as they could to the power source to avoid having to run an additional wire. But that's just a guess.

Mine works fine with my F150 SCrew. I don't think another vehicle would put the receiver much farther away.

Mine came with a lead of about 4' or 5'.
If it's a stub, they cut off.
