X2.
If you have a bearing for emergency replacement, I'm sure you would also have the seal to go with it.

Yep.

On my boat trailer I welded a spindle to the trailer and the spare tire sits on its own brand new idler hub on that spindle, all packed and ready to go. For my travel trailer, brand new bearing packed and ready to go in a zip lock bag

If only that were true all the time. I recall helping a friend with a boat trailer who had a spare bearing set but the wrong seal. Another case of the auto parts store "expert" giving someone the wrong part.

Anyway, the method for removing an old seal without destroying it was merely a response to another post.

I carry the same, two new Timken bearings/races pre-packed with grease in a ziploc bag and a new seal.

Amen! After many years now of many (most?) trailer hubs utilizing double-lip seals, I'm amazed at the total inability of the local auto parts "experts" to identify and sell the correct seals. All too often unsuspecting owners leave with and install the wrong seals. Be it NAPA, Advance, Oreilly, Autozone or the others -- if you can't give them the exact # and don't have an old seal to show/compare they are totally lost as they...stare & search their computer terminal. Etrailer and other online sellers are eating their lunch as they seem to fall further and further behind the power curve on "finding" anything other than a spark plug for a Silverado (And, of course, when they do find the plug they want to also sell you the little bottle of "miracle additive" that will surely enhance your vehicle!).

Not sure why you are quoting me. That was for general information.
