The other day I decided to burn the residue off my grill before storage, so I cranked it up to high and closed the lid. I forgot about it for maybe 15 minutes. That sucker was cranking! The side of the trailer was hot but undamaged. It probably wasn't any hotter than it would have been sitting in direct sun down south.

In 13 years of being on various RV forums, I have NEVER read of that ever happening.
And personally using my side mounted Sidekick grill for 10 years, I can attest to no damage at all.

But don't be surprised if your new trailer has a warning sticker. Apparently FR is starting to put them on:

I came from the popup world. Nobody over there was worried about the side grills causing heat damage to vinyl and other plastic siding materials. We were always concerned about odors and grease that could impregnate those soft materials. So, the more rugged materials of a hard sided trailer should be perfectly fine.
Other than the awning, you should be good to go.
Good luck.

On a hot day, just put a sheet of aluminum foil on the bracket between the grill and trailer side. That will give you some protection for 1/2 cent.

My only concern with the grill is the mounting. The rail on my Roo pulled out dropping my grill on the ground. By the grace of God I had turned it off a few minutes earlier and was waiting for it to cool down before putting it away. Got some long screws and now it's secure to a board on the inside of the wall. Yours may have a better attachment but check it out.

Pull and strap the grill
My grill has a small cable and a clip to wrap around the handles to keep it away from the trailer. While not related to scorching the sidewall, We line the inside of the grill with foil to make cleanup easier. Do the burner top (don't let it tuck under by much, it will be in the flame. Line the bottom making a couple of grease holes in the bottom. Cleanup takes a minute versus scrubbing the crud out each time.

Mine did the same thing on our prior Shamrock, but I caught it before the rail completely separated. That's the good news. Bad news was the grill was lit at the time. Current Shamrock has the bracket mounted to the bumper.

We have a 2604ws - the only problem we have is the side shelf support has damaged the swoosh decal it rests against. The grill has not caused any problem at all.

My table support has done the same thing. I wish I had put a piece of felt or something on the arm. Too late now. No probs with the grill. Use it several times each trip and put the awning out.

If you are a serious griller, you will be disappointed by the grill supplied by FR. Your steaks will be well done before you even get grill marks on them.
That's what happens when the element is 2" below the grate.
Total garbage.

We were kind of leery at first about hanging it off the side, but got over that. Really like it and no problems getting too hot. Works fine for us.
