Hello everyone. We are new to this site, and look forward to interacting wit...

Couple quick questions. Any comments appreciated. I have been looking at Rockwoods, and like the 2906ws model. I see other people talking about buying theirs from RVW I'm not sure what this is? Also anyone like or dislike the 2906ws. Thanks Chad

RVW is RVWholesalers.
It and RVDirect were the first RV companies that used the internet to sell RVs, using volume sales as a way to lower prices.

Many buyers, for years, have been using quotes from them, to shop locally.

Welcome from Wisconsin. Just an FYI, buying from an internet dealer could be problematic when trying to have service done by a local dealer.

I agree with evaluating the local dealer. If your good at modification and repairs then RVW could be a viable alternative. I wish RV Manufactures could manage their products the way the auto industry does it. Welcome and good luck. PS. Remember modifications without pictures, really didn't happen did it?

Welcome on board. We can get pretty rowdy at times and pretty opinionated, but we still work together to get the answers. I believe, every day that we all learn from each other. Just this morning, I learned something about our RV that we have had for nearly a year. All I had to do was ask.

Welcome from Missouri. You'll find lots of helpful, friendly folks on the forum. If you have any questions, feel free to ask away. Somebody will have an answer.

I can't speak specifically to the 2906WS, but I do know that Rockwood builds some fine trailers and stands behind them. Our first was a 2604...very similar to what you are looking at, but without the bedroom wardrobe slide. We liked it, and had no problems, but it was a little too small for us.

We then went to a Windjammer 3008W (link below). Almost identical in size to the 2906WS, but what we liked about it was the location of the kitchen in the front V...it makes it feel like it is a separate room, not a kitchen right smack in the middle of the living room. Plus, it has a lot of counter space. I noticed that the 2906 has an optional kitchen counter extension. So did our 2604, and we bought it, but it was a PITA to find a place to store it when traveling or when we just didn't want to put it up. Plus, when it was up, it significantly impeded walking space.

We ordered a new Columbus 5th wheel because...aw, heck, because I wanted it...and are trading the 'jammer, but we both still love the layout of the 3008W Windjammer. We've towed our 2014 model about 15,000 miles all over the U.S. from Wyoming and Montana to Texas, to Florida, to Georgia and to North and South Carolina.

As far as buying locally vs. buying from one of the internet dealers: We have always bought locally, because we get excellent service from our local dealer. However, if you are full-timing (and I don't suspect you are...yet) where is your "local" dealer? Additionally, with a trade-in, the internet dealers may or may not take it, and if they do, they are going to give you the amount they think they can wholesale the trailer for. they are in the business of moving new units, not selling used trailers. Our local guy does a pretty good business in used trailers, so his trade-in allowances have usually been "reasonable".

Good luck with whatever you choose to do. Just make sure you

Hello everyone. We are new to this site, and look forward to interacting wit...

Thank you for all of the Welcomes. If I do get a Rockwood I will be spending a lot of time here. I would prefer to buy locally. Just looking for a fair price. I know these salesmen will take everything they can. They are quoting me $29,800. It has the Emerald package. Power stab and tongue jacks. Upgraded stereo. Fireplace. Solid surface countertops slam latches step light ect. Does that sound bad/fair/good??
Thanks Chad

Welcome and good luck with the decision making. This link may be useful as you decide what the "right" price is and whether to go local or long distance with your purchase.
I went long distance with mine and haven't been unhappy. Some DO regret it...but then again, some local guys promise you good service and charge you more then don't deliver. If you get close to a deal with someone...ask here for opinions on the dealers service as chances are, some will have bought from the same place.

We have owned two Rockwood TT and like them both. Everyone knows we really love our 2015 windjammer. Best floor plan, lots of storage, and easy to tow. We bought locally because we do very little work on our tailers ourselves. A good dealer is worth a little extra and ours in Troy, Ohio had proved that right.

Curiously got the better of me. Since we live near RVW, I wondered how much we may have over paid by not comparing deals... Well, not that much. Based on their website we did ok at a local dealer. RVW may have been a little cheaper, but their website didn't give enough details to really tell. Still happy with our local dealer. They came to our house when we had a water by pass problem, I don't think they would do that if we hadn't bought the trailer from them.

Buy local only if:
1. they are reasonably competitive on price after figuring in your travel costs, and
2. they have a good reputation for after sales service.

If they fail on either of these 2 points, don't hesitate to buy from RVW. If the local dealer refuses to do warranty work on your camper because you didn't buy it there, Forest River/Rockwood will usually help you find an alternate dealer who will be willing to do the warranty work. It would be a good idea to investigate that before deciding where to buy. If the alternate dealer is 2-3 hours away, that may impact your decision.
