Hit the Scales

We went and picked up the new Wind Jammer today and stopped at a CAT Scale on the way there with just the truck and on the way home with everything. Here's what we found out. So much for the 850lb tongue weight. The rear axle of my truck went from 2720 to 3680 with the TT on it. These numbers are with the camper just picking it up at the dealer so, there is a battery and 2-30# LPG tanks. Other than that we have no personal gear inside. Take a look at the Scale sheets for yourself.

Looks pretty close to me considering you got propane.

So, 850 lbs of advertised weight plus 60 pounds for propane = 910. And add your battery and you're hitting the 950 pounds that you're scaling out with.

What's the problem?

I do have a WDH. I'm just saying I'm glad I went with the 12k equalizer instead of the 10k that the dealer wanted to give me.

Hit the Scales

Some of your tongue is being transferred to the trailer axles so it is really heavier than the 900 lbs added to the rear axle. Probably another 150 lbs or so. The good thing is that the hitch was set up really good to restore all of the lost front axle weight except 60 lbs.

I trust the Titan has the tow package? Have you replaced or checked the rear shackles on the truck? They have been known to fail and send the rear springs through the bed.

Hit the Scales

Yes I have a full tow package on it. I also have Firestone Airbags installed on the rear. I wasn't aware of rear shackles failing.
