Use a gallon baggie after loosening the filter. It will catch most of the water.

FWIW That filter housing is a standard replacement , you can get a new one at Home Depot for very little money. Over time the housing will get brittle and crack even with pressure regulated systems.

You might want to be specific about which filter housing are you talking about. My understanding is that the FR1 is only made for Forest River. You can't get them at Home Depot.

Correct. FR1 is made proprietary for FR.
Any old element won't fit properly.

Hmm, that’s odd. The previous owner of my Sunseeker must have swapped out the “FR1” for a more standard filter setup. Lucky me.

My 2018 Rockwood Signature Series Ultra Lite 8288WSA has a RCS housing that takes a KW1 cartridge. This housing doesn’t even show up on the WaterPur Company website. I figure it is proprietary for Forest River also. I ordered o-rings for it today. I’m still thinking about taking the filter out and using a housing outside by the spigot. The contortions required to change out cartridges are sort of okay now but a few years from now... not so much
