How to know if camper has waterpur filter....
We have a new to us, 2013 Rockwood 8293 rkbs. The first thing I would like to do is sanitize the water system. The generic owners manual says that some units have the WaterPur system. How do I know if our has this? I have looked around and do not see anything resembling that, but am not sure if I am looking in the right spots.

As I understand it WaterPur is just a different filter in a larger then standard water filter housing...
so, have you found the filter in the system yet? Often they are hidden in enclosed areas, or under sinks.
Examine the water filter and see if it has any markings on it, like filter cart # and then google that...

I do not see anything under sink other than the water heater. As far as in enclosed areas, I don't have a clue where to start. Have not opened anything up yet. Do you think it would be near the water pump, or near the water fill on the right side of camper near the sink? It appears the accesses to the enclosed area have a million screws to remove for each one.

It should be near the water pump. The city water line and the water pump discharge line should Tee together before the filter.

before you unscrew a million screws, I would look into the outside cargo doors, use a flashlight and look for hoses and a water filter screwed to the camper wall about the size of a large water bottle...

x2. In our model the access to the water filter has it's own cargo door.

I was about to assume we did not have a filter, and then in a box that the grill was in I found a white plastic wrench and knew it was for a filter. So, I looked more and found it. It is under the bathroom sink, hidden behind the removable T style panel.
Thanks for the help.
I am positive I will be back with more crazy questions.

If the filter says KW1 or FR1 on it, you may want to remove it and replace it with a 1/2" coupler. They are notorious for cracking and flooding trailers.

Are you saying remove the filter completely?
If so, just use a hose end filter instead?

Yes
1/2" coupler
Filter removed, coupler installed
Outside Camco filter:
Some folks have rigged up the KW1 filter that they removed to allow it to be used outside, where it can't hurt anything.

i also have the KR-1 filter and it has it's own door outside. You have to be a skinny contortionist just to get to it.....not to mention twisting the filter off and on with the wrench! I went back to the Walmart whole house filter that I put outside in the hose. that way if there is a leak, it's outside the trailer. And i can sit in a chair and wrestle with the filter wrench!

I think Forest River really dropped the ball on this one. Just the little bit of water you drop when changing the filter could cause big problems down the road if you don't get it COMPLETELY dry under there.
