Lessons from our first setup 2509s.

Well we setup our new 2018 2509s on our campsite for the year and have these little tidbits of information to share.

When I first turned on the water there was water pressure in the bathtub and the toilet. The sinks in the bathroom and kitchen had little or nothing coming out of them. I did everything but I could figure out what was going on....my wife called our dealer and they picked up after hours. He said want me to fix this? Yes please...take the aerators off the faucets and clean them...I felt like an idiot. Cleaned them out and all is well.

Second water issue was with the outdoor kitchen. I forgot I had one and the facet was on when I turned the water on to the camper...and the drain plug was in...what a mess. We got that cleaned up and we are now all set.

Now the only question we have is the electric/gas water heater. How long should it take to heat when on electric? Can you have both on at the same time?

Yes both can be on at same time. I have a6 gallon and on gas it takes 16 minutes.

Had to clean our aerator in the kitchen too with our new trailer. Took awhile for me to figure that out too.

Yes you can run gas and electric at the same time and it will heat the water faster. I would think you should have hot water in about 15 minutes but I haven't timed it.

Just remember to turn on the switch for the electric back at the WH. Ours wouldn't heat on electric and remembered reading about that switch in the compartment.

You set up for the year?

Why even bother buying a camper? Just buy a cabin or something. The value in a travel trailer is it...travels.

We did that for 3 years now we are setting up where we loved camping for a week for the whole year next year we will move it again! It is the best of both worlds (for us at least)!

The big rig with AC and 50 amp etc are Chalet on weel.
Not for CAMPING!
That`s why the campsite rates are going to the roof.

Yes...we are more like glamping nowadays. It like hauling a hotel room!

I'm hoping you solved my problem. We were on shore power this past weekend, and I "turned on" the Electric Water Heater switch at the control panel.

However, no hot water. On our previous trip, we used gas and had good hot water. So I know the heater works.

Is this as simple as opening the outside compartment door and flicking a switch? Do you leave it on and then simply rely on the interior panel switch, or will leaving it on during temporary storage drain the battery? I'm wondering, what's the point of the interior wall switch and the unit switch.

Yes there is a switch in the water heater compartment as well as the switch on the control panel. Both must be on for electric to work.

I drain my water heater between trips. To keep anyone (me) from having a brain fart and burning up the element on accident, I turn it off at the outside switch when I drain it and turn it back on when I fill it before a trip.
