We have property in the mountains with a rather minimal road down to the river. The first time I tried it, I hung up on the stairs, and had to remove them. I have improved the road since then, but I get having extra clearance. I take my trailer places most wouldn't. The only mod I've made is upgraded tires that are about 1/2" taller than stock, and heavier load range, and higher speed rating. I was told by an axle repair guy that for off road use, you need to double the axle rating. He said Forest Service trailers often come in with broken spindles or bent axles all the time. I was there with a broken spindle on my utility trailer from drinving too fast on a rocky road. So when on rough roads, take it very slow.
