Load leveling hitch

Need advice from seasoned RV'ers. I towed an 8329SS with a 1500 Ram and quickly found it wasn't capable of handling highway speeds. I used a load leveling system with the ram. I upgraded to a Silverado 2500HD and it does great. Are the load levelers still needed with the HD? I don't want to regret trying a trip without them if it's not a good decision. Thoughts?

are you reffering to a weight distribution hitch? or some suspension parts that would provide load leveling?

If in fact you are talking about a WDHitch then without one you lose any anti-sway protection it might have provided during highway speed travailing.

The weight of your trailer and your tongue weight would be useful information for this conversation...

It is a WDHitch. It also has the sway bars that I was told does no good for units overs 4K lbs. The WD bars are a pain to put on if not needed.

Looks like his GVWR is around 9,500 lbs.

I know I'll get jumped on, but definitely bigger than I'd pull with a 1/2 ton.

The OP upgraded to a 3/4 ton Ram.

It would help a lot if you posted what make of WDH you have.
Modern ones have integrated sway control.
Old tech ones have friction antisway bars.

Yeah, but he WAS pulling it with a 1500 Ram. (I had to comment; just couldn't help myself!)

the way the OP asks the question makes MORE information of his setup necessary...

One of the main advantages of a WD hitch is it transfers some of the load back onto the front tires, which are responsible for most of your braking and all of your steering. And I'd never tow again without sway control. Did that once long ago and almost lost control when cross winds induced sudden sway on a big highway bridge. Scary.

I asked about the WDH, not your truck.
Without knowing which make you have, hard to recommend whether to use it or not.
