looking into buying a 2006 forest river rockwood 8318SS any suggestions or concerns?

I am a first time TT buyer looking at a 2006 forest river rockwood 8318SS that a coworker of mine has for sale. Any and all suggestions into what I need to inspect, expect, etc. Would be greatly appreciated. I have a girlfriend, a 18 month old son and a dog which will all be with me regularly. Looking for a good all around TT for a first timer and love this floor plan.

I hope the price is right for you and make sure everything works. I hope he is honest and tells you about any problems he has had and what has been replaced. Good luck!

Thanks and the price seems great and I looked it up on Kelly blue book and he is selling it to me for about 3500 less than listed. He is only getting rid of it for a park model now that they have found a permanent place they wanna stay. His only problem is with the front slide needing a helper nudge when bringing back in and his inverter was changed last year

May I suggest a camping trip or serious walk through.
Look on top and under neath.
Water damage can be a biggie but hard to find.
Look in all the storage areas for any signs of water stains.
Check the fridge on both electric and LP.
(This means light it and wait several hours to see if it's down
to 40 or below. Then switch it to 120v AC and see if it's still
cold tomorrow.)
They can be rather expen$ive to fix.
Also check the hot water heater.
Does it light OK?
People-- even good friends can sort of "forget" this or that item
that was not working just right. They actually don't mean to
but it happens.
It's up to you to check everything before you buy.
Water pump and every thing else.
A night at a nearby park would not be out of the question.

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Also KyDan forgot to mention the entertainment system. Make sure everything works. all the speakers work , all the functions work, dvd,dvd-r ,mp3,cr-r cd-rw, check that the TV goes on, antenna works. if its a Concertone beware. lots of folks have had problems. check the windows for leaks etc, check the blinds, all the lighting fixtures work, check the toilet.

I would go to www.RVwholesalers.com and check out the price of a brand new one similarly equipped.

You should be at about 1/2 the price or less of a new one from rvwholesalers.

As previous posters have said, check for leaks.

We own an 07 8318SS and love it. Bought it brand new for 17,900 so as others mentioned, consider the price difference between new and "used book price". The only problems we have had over the past 3 seasons of camping were a bad power converter and Concertone home theater. Both of which were replaced under warranty. To date, we have not found a camper we like better. The floor plan is the best for our family needs!
