Low point drain leak

I noticed a pinhole leak in my hot water low point drain. It's just above the cap and lightly spraying water into the undercarriage. There's a lot of caulking above it so I can't see how it's attached to the hot water line. Can this be replaced by a DIY type like me? I don't want to start carving caulk away now. I'm on a trip for a few more days. I've turned the water off and will only turn it on as needed to cut pressure from the lines (city connection). I didn't want to chance the leak getting bigger.

easy fix cut the pipe at the leak and install a valve or a new cap
