lube plates
First time 5th wheel owner and not sure if I need one or not. Using the Reese revolution pin box on my 8289ws. So should I be using a lube plate with this setup.

I have one on mine ....... I think its a matter of preference.
I went the first year without one and just put one on this winter to see if theres any difference.
I dont think you'll need one as your pin box does not pivot on your hitch but rather pivots back under the camper at the pin-box mount.

That's what I was thinking. Wasn't sure if using one was important for just hooking up and un hooking.

Use something - either grease or a plate. I scratched the paint up on mine by not using anything for a couple of months and about 3,000 miles towing.

Considering what they cost, I would recommend using one regardless of your hitch design. It would prevent any wear between your pin box and hitch plate when hooking/unhooking.

With a reese revolution the pin does not rotate on the hitch .....
Theres no need for a plate up there as nothing moves....

Isn't there still going to be contact between the pin box and plate when hooking/unhooking?

There will be contact but since it doesn't spin on the 5th wheel hitch like a normal hitch what would be the reason for having a lube plate ?

I see what your sayin B.
If anything else maybe just a thin coat of lube plate grease but I wouldn't see that there would be much wear since it just sits on the hitch and never moves.

Not to belabor this, but you did say there is contact. Can I assume the contact would be between the pin box bottom and the hitch plate top when hooking/unhooking. If so, then a lp would help minimize the contact.
Right ?

B theres a block behind the pin that wont allow a lube plate.
You would have to cut a notch out of the lube plate then attach it by means of drilling holes and counter sinking the plate then bolting it up.

IMO - not needed, but certainly wouldn't hurt.

Rockport you could surely put a little grease on the plate but in my experience every time you jump up in your pick-up bed you'll not only have it on the hitch but on you .

ONLY if the Revolution is activated. If the wedge is in the storage position in the back and the two 5/8" bolts are installed, you need a lube plate.
If the wedge is directly behind the pin and the 2 5/8" bolts are NOT installed, then you do NOT need a lube plate.
Have towed mine over 5,000 and the hitch plate still has the paint on it. The hitch pin does not move and because of that, I tow with a full bed hard tonneau cover installed.

Yes it is activated with the wedge directly behind the pin.. By the way that tonneau cover looks great !
