Maxxair fan vent won't open

We just spent out first weekend camping at the Bourne scenic park on the cape cod canal. First real tow. First back in. First setup. First hookup. First strike camp and first dump station. Whew! It's like being plugged into the matrix...there is so much info to absorb.

Only 3 issues.
You can't back up the rig with the emergency brake on...
I couldn't flush the black tank through the winterizing inlet D'oh!
And finally my galley maxxair fan turns on but will not open. If you open it manually then hit close, it will close. It doesn't open with remote or button on fan.
Is it defective or am I missing something?
Thanks!

Mine can be set to work like a ceiling fan, fan turns but the door will stay closed.

It's in the manual, which I can not get to right now....

Air in/out button?

Yeah. That function works but when you hit open...it doesn't. Though the remote says it is open

If you have the rain sensing feature on your vent then there might be moisture on the sensor itself causing it to remain closed. Just a thought.

Try pushing the open\close knob in (upward). It may be pulled downward into the 'manual' position.

I turned the rain sensor off and tried again...no go.
Good idea though.
Be a pity to haul it back just for that!

Check the temperature settings: the inside is most likely set too high. Drop it 10 degrees and the problem goes away.

I played around with mine.

Knob to open the cover lid does not pull down or push up.

Mine does not have the rain sensor so it is clearly a different model.

Sorry I am not much help.....

We have had that issue. The cover gets stuck don't know why. You have to get it unstuck manually then it will open. Mine does it all the time.

If the motor is trying to open the cover but won't then the cover may be stuck to the rubber gasket. Ours does from time to time telling me it's time to clean the gaskets and then smear a light coat of Vaseline around the gasket.

Fantastik folks recommended Aerospace 303 for the gasket. Vaseline will collect dirt.

Mine sticks from time to time. Clean the gasket with a soft rag, and spray with silicone spray on gasket and lid.

Not stuck. The knob just won't rotate in the open direction. Maybe miswired. Back to dealer next week. ☹️
