YES, you either remove the drawer in the bedroom(my arms are to short to reach the valves) or the intake panel for the heater under the stove. They are fairly easy to manipulate from a prone position on the floor.
Or you can unscrew the anode from the hot water heater and drain it first from the outside.

Thanks. If you can easily access the valves by removing the furnace intake cover, then it would be easiest to replace the screws with magnets.

upgrade thermostat

I am looking to upgrade my analog thermostat to a digital thermostat in my 2021 Rockwood mini lite 2104s. Does any one recommend a good digital thermostat that has heat and air conditioning?

Welcome to the forum, streeter22. Try doing search here on the forum for threads on “digital thermostat”. I recall that members have used Hunter and Honeywell brand thermostats successfully to replace the analog one. It’ll have to be a battery-operated t-stat. I used a Honeywell t-stat in my previous travel trailer.

Batteries failing

I posted in the tech section, but just in case .. I have a 2022s minilite. Batteries (2 Interstate 12v) seem to taking a charge, but now will lose power very quickly. I have a separate battery monitory and also use the controller - in both cases, when I turn off shore power (to test) voltage drops in minutes from 13.4v or so to +/-11v within a few minutes. Turn shore power on, back up to 13v +/- also in minutes.

FYI I leave the panel uncovered, so batteries are always charging when stored.

With fridge off, I did the same test, and got a quick draw down, though not as quickly.

I don't boondock much. I did last year and 3 days (cloud/rain last day) fine. I often go over the storage place the morning that I am leaving and turn on the battery disconnect to get fridge cold (12v fridge) with no problem an no appreciable loss of power. The 190w panel on a clear day is pretty good for a few days that way.

Now - boom! I'm covering the panel tonight and taking the batteries out to be load tested. They are only 1 year old. Came with the trailer. I may get them covered under warranty still (good till Sept 9)

So anyone else? The batteries were fine 4 weeks ago when I camped and did the same thing - turned on and cooled things down several hours before we left, battery only. Testing this weekend, batteries were down to 50% in minutes when fridge compressor was on.

Finally, suggestions for true deep cycle 12V? We don't boondock often, but I want to be able to do so once in awhile, and be ready if power goes out at a park.

Example in picture is from a quick test yesterday .. see the rapid drop? Switched to battery, and fridge compressor on. Still happens when fridge is off, but not so bad.

Thanks.

Bad batteries. Water boiled out, which I never saw happen (especially to 1 year old batteries). My bad for not checking, but either batteries are over charging or they were bad. Check your water regularly

jsk125, I know there are newer more high tech solutions to your 'deep-cycle' question but I have never been unhappy with 2-6volt golf cart batteries. We boon-dock almost entirely, generally for a week at a time. We have a simple 40 watt solar panel and a Honda 2200. The Honda runs about 2-3 hours a day during breakfast and supper times (micro-wave, toaster, coffee maker, TV). Between that and the solar panel the batteries stay up for the fridge and furnace and bathroom vent fan and radio and lights. As you have found out wet batteries need to be kept wet otherwise the G2200 are trouble free. I do remove them in the fall and keep them on a Nocco charger all winter.

12 VDC Charging Center inoperative

Hi, I am not sure I am starting this thread the right way, as a reply to the 2511S thread. If not, please advise.

I am the new owner of a 2019 Rockwood 2511S. I was testing some portable inverters using the 12 vdc plug in the charging center next to the bed, and I think I overloaded it as there is no longer 12 vdc present at the plug. None of the fuses or breakers by the door are tripped, everything else works fine, but no power at the charging center, (or the solar plug on the outside).

Is there another fuse panel somewhere or a breaker on the 12v coverter that I need to reset? If so, where is the converter located, I have not found it. I have removed the panel and verified there is no voltage at the back of the plug.

Regards,
John

A quick call to FR resolved my issue, posting answer in case anyone else needs it. The bedroom charging center fuse is an inline fuse on a yellow wire on the trailer hitch near the battery. Interestingly the jack is labeled 10 amps, but the fuse is 20 amps, which FR confirmed is correct.
The converter is with the fuse box near the door - I may be the only forum member who did not already know that.

Have seen that yellow fuse holder. Figured it was the main for the 12volt systems. But you say it only does the 12vdc outlet on the left side of the bed. The two USB power plugs also?
Thanks for the update.

That is right. It looks like it also includes the solar connector on the outside of the trailer, but nothing else.

Oven Door

Does your oven door stay closed while traveling? Do you store anything within oven while traveling?
Mini bungy cord up to range top, for us.
Someone once mentioned magnets?
All ideas welcome.

I don't know. I have used it for storage for cooking utensils from day one and secured it for travel.
I use double sided velcro cut to length since it won't stretch open. Routed under the grate up front so the top closes.
A one inch piece of insulation protects the glass.

Good idea with the insulation barrier. Doesn’t break down correct?

Hasn't yet. I don't know why I did not tape the sides with electrical tape like in the picture, usually do that whenever I cut insulation for a use. It is on my to do list now.
Attaching a picture of how I keep my cast iron smoker boxes in place also. They just help to keep the heat more uniform. Actually have only used the oven a couple of times.

Ideas

Saw on a video where someone with a different camper with the triple glass shower door had it work loose. Borrowed their idea of a pool noodle stopper. We also invented a close line for in the shower with a couple of command hooks and a piece of pvc pipe. On travel days lay the pipe on the floor of shower, when we use the shower just lean it up by the sink cabinet. Works great to dry wet towels on a rainy day. We bought a card table and 2 folding chairs to replace the plastic heavy table that came with the camper. The chairs ride nicely on either side of the recliner laying down. The card table has been tucked into the bed on travel days anyone else have a suggestion where to keep it?

Light card table? Behind the recliners.

Mine is solid wood(heavy) so I have been experimenting with, just on top of the bed, between barn door and slide(you have to be sure not to operate slide until removed, I used warning tape), up against bathroom vanity(secured). All have worked and I have wrapped it during travel so it does not ding up anything with little bounces.
I am now working on keeping it on top of the forward recliner(secured). But I am single and that is where I use it. It over hangs enough for eating with a card table chair and is out of the traffic area. Doing it this way will be one less step during set up and tear down. I don't believe a little extra weight in the center of the slide is going to cause any harm.

What size Schwintek Motor for my Rockwood 2511S wardrobe

I need to replace my Schwintek slide motor for the small wardrobe in my Rockwood Mini Lite 2511S. Does anyone know the size motor? They have 2 versions 300:1 and 500:1.

Finally got a few things done

We purchased our 2511s right before Covid. It was the early 2019 so it had the big clunky counter extension that was heavy, really no where to store and a pain to use. No water miser system, plastic toilet, plastic sinks & faucets. The kitchen faucet had no sprayer. Small under belly storage and those horrid fold out steps that bounced when used and shook the entire camper. DH took care of most of these things early on. I had ordered a new faucet with sprayer nozzle and a Hunter digital thermostat early on that sat gathering dust. I got DH to install the thermostat, unfortunately it wasn't wire to wire and would not work. He ended up ordering the Coleman Mach digital but it came used and would not work so he ordered the latest and greatest and it works! I got him to put a new metal faucet in the bathroom and talked him into tackling the kitchen. He wasn't looking forward to this because of the limited space. After much thought it was decided the old plastic undermount sink would be cut out and replaced with a new stainless sink which would give access to the water lines. Again he was not happy and protested a lot until he got into the project. He discovered our sink was already coming away from the counter and would have ended up possibly making a big mess in the short future while washing dishes so it was a good thing and the drop in sink would eliminate future dropping. It turned out amazing. While he did the heavy work I added a soap dish, shampoo/conditioner dispenser & rod holders in the shower. Over the past few years we have made our little 2511s our happy place. It has served us well and we look forward to many more years. Now if I can just get the rubber seals on the inside on either side of the wardrobe slide to stay put.
I've attached a few pictures of our happy place.
