Mini-Lite axle capacity

All, I'm shopping for a 2507S or (Flagstaff Micro-Lite) 25BDS. I've seen weight stickers for some models online which are virtually the same in terms of options but differ in terms of axle rating. One shows axles rated at 3080# while another trailer of the same model and year has axles rated @ 3500#.

There may be minor weight differences due to options but I don't get the rationale for the significant difference in axles. I also noted that the 3500# axles had C tires while the 3080# axles had D tires. That seems reversed?

I don't expect that the higher rated axles increase the GVWR much, since the frame itself would become the limiting factor. I do like the idea of not risking axle damage, though.

Can someone elaborate?

this strikes me as a question best directed to forrest river. If you get an answer let the forum know.

I'm guessing it's whatever they had in stock that would "work." They probably ran out of the 3080's, so they grabbed some 3500's.

Go for one of the 3500 versions if you can, all else being equal.

From FR:
"The axles used are still the same as always. NHTSA changed how things needed to be listed. Before, a 2507S had a calculated GVWR of 6743. With a hitch weight of 583, that leaves 6160 lbs of weight that the axles would be rated for – making it 3080 per axle. Some of our dealers would list that we used 3500 lb axles (which that is the size on them) but we really only recommend loading 3080 per axle as to not go over the CCC and ultimately the GVWR."
... and, in a later response:
"There was a NHTSA regulation put in place that tires had to be rated 10% higher than axles. With that being the case, we had to list the rating for our 3,500 lb axles (that have always been used) as 3080 lbs to meet their requirement."
Given the above, I still don't know why the weight sticker added by FR said 3500# and had C tires, on the same trailer model. Perhaps the date of manufacture affected that, if the regulation went into effect recently.

Either way, they're all the same axles.
