Murphy bed gap

Has anyone come up with a decent solution to filling the gap at the head of the Murphy Bed? Pillows constantly fall down and somewhere down there is a charger, but I can't find it.

We used to use a bunch of "pool noodles" for a while. You can use rubber bands, or zip ties, or duct tape, etc to keep them together. Put them into the gap and nothing falls down.

You can also buy a mattress extender. And position that in there as well. (see below)

We solved the gap problem by DW making two large tube pillows, stuffed with her sewing scraps, ... they are very dense, not soft and mushy, and are a firm fit in the gap so they stay where we put them and will not slide down easily, ... we also use them to fill the gap behind the sofa when the bed is up and the sofa is usable, ... we cover them with two large beach towels which also double as a cover for an afternoon nap on the sofa, ...

also, about the abyss at the head of the bed, ... the end paneling is very thin, can be easily cut and removed to access that area, then returned after retrieving whatever may have fallen into there, ...

I use a body pillow from Bed Bath and Beyond to fill the gap. I use this during the day when the bed is stored as a way to close the gap behind the sofa, and at night to close the gap between the head of the mattress and the wall. Works will for me.

There is a really good thread on this web site on the Murphy bed gap, I would suggest searching for it… after reading that thread, we got a very firm piece of foam and cut it with a kitchen knife, slightly wider than the opening. We then squeeze it into the gap when we put the bed down. The foam is about 6”x6”x30” and we have two of them… It works great, also I am 6’3” tall, so it give me a bit more bed length… the foam came from a fabric store and was for a sofa seat cushion
