Murphy Bed Sofa

We are looking at purchasing a 2018 2507s . Love the layout and extra storage . We viewed a 2018 model last week and they have definitely made a change to the Murphy Bed sofa. The back cushions are hard as rocks and very uncomfortable. The 2017 were puffed and very comfortable. Dont know why Rockwood made this stupid change. We are now looking to purchase a 2017 (if we can find) or maybe move onto another make

Not sure what you mean by back cushions. Do you mean the cushions on the sofa? Not actually part of the Murphy bed. Still unfortunate since we love our setup, bed and sofa.

murphy bed sofa

Yes I'm referring to the sofa which makes up when murphy is folded up. As I mentioned the 2017 models have comfortable sofa. For some reason Rockwood installed very hard back cushions on the sofa on 2018 models.
Great to hear you enjoy your murphy bed, we love the space saving.

Our 2017 2504s had the sofa changed under warrentee as it was sinking in on the bottom cushion on both sides. The foam was ripping on the edges. The new sofa is a lot different but it is more comfortable then the old one.

From what I've read there were a lot of quality issues with the sofa cuhions prior to the 2018 model. Most likely the reason for the change. Might be a good thing that they swiched to a firmer cushion.

Sitting on my sofa at the Goshen FROG Rally typing this -- Firm: Yes; Hard: No. Had a very nice sleep last night on the firm (no hard) Serta mattress on the Murphy bed. Love it.

Same here

First trip out in our 2018 2507s. Love the mattress...cant believe I'm apsaying that about a camper mattress. Probably will find a good home for the mattress topper we used to use on the pr vious camper. And when they handed me the plug, I was amazed. Had no idea we were getting a heated mattress....cant wait for the colder weather to try it out!
And I agree on the couch....firm but fine. Totally happy so far

We wouldn't get a Murphy bed ourselves. Any trailer we have looked at, if it had a Murphy I walked out.

Its all personal choice, but I want a bed I can just get into when traveling and wanting to stop quick and rest for the night (ie: walmart parking lot)

Same as putting it up after each use to get a couch, no thanks.

Also not a fan of having a bed right there when the door is opened. Not everyone gets up together when camping :-)

But its all personal choice

For the 30 seconds it takes and the extra space it gives, its worth its weight in chocolate, especially if you dont want to drag a big trailer all over the place and still want some room. I will say that some of them, like the winnebago, are a joke...its just cushions folded up rather than a real mattress. But you' right...it's all personal taste.

Love the Murphy bed. It is quick and easy to move up and down. I do not need to see a bed when not in it and gives tons more space.

I agree with the above, love that it is out of the way during the day and folds down quickly ready to use for night time. Also find with our 1 1/2 " memory foam on it, it's very comfortable. No complaints!

So when you want to sleep in, go to bed early, or have a nap during the day, where does the other person sit in the trailer?

If you have to ask, then you probably want a (likely) bigger rig with a permanent bed.

Or, go *outside*. [emoji56]

Chose Salem 201BHXL because of loveseat and Murphy Bed. DW sleeps sitting on sofa most of time, but uses the Murphy too. Unfortunately this model has no supports at end of bed, only supported at sides. Was climbing in from end, on last trip, and heard loud crack. Discovered end became very flexible. Disassembled, took off plastic end cap and discovered framing is only a 2x2 pine and was filled with knots, cracked at one of the knots. Platform is 1/8 plywood, top and bottom, stapled to 2x2 framing. I disassembled, removed staples with flat screwdriver and discovered that it was not even glued in place. Bought a 2X4, no knots, now glued and screwed and better than new. Can't wait to get out and use it again. 201BHXL has all the features I needed in a hyperlite, bunks, tub, oven, large fridge, dinette seats 4, full sink and 3 burner range, loveseat, and Murphy. Perfect fit to sleep 5. Just a little too much for my TV to go very far. Luckily Mid-Mich is quite flat.

Mine has a U-dinette. Most of them have a U or standard dinette.

My Flagstaff 25 BDS has a u-shaped dinette large enough for at least four to sit in/on while the bed is down.

As for hassle and time? It takes me longer to put on my socks, shoes, and tie them than it does to secure the straps and push the bed up.

My TT is a 2018 model and I scratched "buy good mattress for new trailer" off my to-do list after spending my first night on the new mattress. Being heated will sure be nice this winter too.

Put me in the "Love it" column.

Before we put a topper on the bed we didn't need the straps. Just fold up the bed, pull up the sofa.. Took 10 seconds.

I like the straps. They keep the pillows where I can find them

The same place they would sit if it was a fixed bed instead of a Murphy [emoji848]
