New 2020 Rockwood sig. - Bad Lippert Jack Motor

I have a brand new 2020 Rockwood Signature 8329SB Gen 2. We are leaving today for a 2 week trip and the RR Lippert Leveling Jack decided to stop working. After talking to service, we had to recover the RR manually with a ratchet and a 3/8 extension... We accessed the Lippert ground control panel and checked the BIG 30amp fuse, even swapping it with the Left side. Still nothing. Then we checked and reseated all the wiring harness...Nada... So we switched the RR and the LR wiring harness on the control panel. The Left worked with the right control, but the right STILL didn't work with the left control... Bad Motor !!

So we are heading out and will use our expensive leveling system as a "stabilizer" only until services gets the parts or we get back...which ever comes first.

Such is life....

How timely, I just asked about the auto level system. It's a few links below yours on the forum. Had you used it before? or was this the first time you are taking it out? I called today so see how much more. It was ordered on Friday so not sure if it's too late. Hope I have an email when I get to work tomorrow.

Nice trailer! We were set on the 8329SB due to the new changes. The DW really wanted a trailer with lazyboys. Then we saw the updated 8328SB. It was a tough decision but we finally went with the 8328SB because we could have the theater seat replaced with lazyboys. It also comes with an outdoor kitchen, fridge and sink which we find useful. I still like the 8329SB due to it being lighter and with the new full pass through storage. Congrats!

Sorry about the motor.

Hope you get yours back up soon!

We tried the system out in the driveway, one time. We’re hoping to get a new motor installed soon under warranty. We were told by the dealership that they have replaced several new rv leveling motors in the past couple months. It’s a pain to use manually, but it works.

We have the same system on our 8328BS. It has failed on numerous occasions this season; we did have the front left motor replaced ($900) but still having error messages showing up. I get “overstroke” messages as well even though the Jack has only extended 2-3 inches...very frustrating!!

Seems to be a ver delicate, and flawed system. I regret ordering the camper with it already

ROFLMAO.

That's the first time I have ever heard a piece of Lippert's typical cheap junk referred to as being "delicate". But you're thinking in the right direction......100%.

Every thing they make, distribute, or are associated with is delicate. In fact using "delicate" may make one think it's better than it actually is.

Don’t laugh, try tapping on it with a small hammer. Works on window motors.

If you're contemplating not returning to a campground because your auto level seems to have issues, you're gonna miss out on a lot of campgrounds.

Lippert Jack Issues

I'm on the third jack replacement for the Lippert auto leveling system in one year. One bad motor, two sheared off drive pins in front jack on 2017 Prime time 29BHS.

To me they seem to be junk motors.

UPDATE:

Motor is Bad! What took the service department 1.5 hrs to determine I knew when I brought it in. Anyway.... they have to order a whole new assembly...don't know why they can't just replace the motor, but they are on it...and doing a great job of getting us back on the road. I can't blame the service department, those guys are great!!!! But I'm not happy with Lippert at all!!

This is a BRAND NEW UNIT less than a month old!

UPDATE: Motor is fixed!! They replaced the Rear Right Jack assembly and motor and all works as expected. If I had it to do over... I'm not 100% sure I'd spend the money on the leveling system...great idea...not sure if Lippert has a quality product though. I'll do maintenance on it, I'll take care of it and use it as it was intended...but I expect it to hold up under NORMAL use. Lippert, if you're listening... do a better job of quality control on your products going out the door!!

Sorry to hear, but we have had the same problem with both front leveling jacks. Last year in Boston, right front jack had the internal shaft shear off. Fortunately, we found a great RV dealer who was able to get the part and have us back on the road. Then this past Oct in Bryce, same thing happened to the left front.

Trailer was in the shop for three weeks, waiting for the part. Have a hunch the shafts in the motors are failing due to inferior metal being used. Fortunately, both covered under manu warranty and extended warranty. First time PT owner of Crusader.
