New feature on Rockwood fifth wheels - LED's on awning
My wife & I just toured the factory yesterday (4/4) and about half way through the production run of 35 units for the day they started adding an LED light strip to the awning where it attaches to the side of the 5'er. It is a running change and we were the first "outsiders" to see it. They have a strip attached to a moulded pc that slides onto the tang of the awning that slides in the slot on the trailer with the wiring running down the awning arm with the motor wires & then wired in.
After seeing the production am now more confident in our choice of a Rockwood 5'er. The QC that they do is great and any omission found on the trailer is noted and the group leader of that station is responsible to fix it on the line before it leaves and then returns to his group to make sure their training is corrected and reinforced so as not to happen again. The literally have 4-6 inspectors that run their hands over every surface to see &/or feel for any imperfections and they are noted with tape and must be fixed before it leaves the factory. The trailers plumbing is pressurized & checked along with all wiring before cabinets and fixtures installed. The final test is a door pressurization to check for air leakage.
The lamination process was fully explained and they have a process that is more expensive with individual forms for each part so that there is not deformation in vacuum process that could cause the part to bend or deform and also insures complete coverage and bonding between all the layers and the bonding agent. Awesome.
