new mattress vs. mattress topper

The mattress in our mini lite is very uncomfortable -- we are not big people and there are indentations and sometimes touch the platform. Is there a good medium firm topper or would a complete new mattress be the best way out . great trailer and they scrimp on the mattress

Very much recommend buying a new mattress. We were going to get the mattress pad, but after watching the video where Eli and Fawn from RV East Coast talked about it, we ended up going with the Ghost Bed mattress. While we have yet to sleep on it, everyone else that has slept on it gave rave reviews.

I went the mattress topper route on my factory supplied mattress. Was better but still not good.

Yesterday I opened my new Zinus 8" RV Short Queen mattress consisting of three layers of foam (Firm, Medium, Memory). Price was great ($217 including our State Sales Tax from Amazon) and when I unpacked and it began to resume it's normal state it was apparent it was light years better then the factory mattress.

Only thing I might miss is the heated pad the factory included in the OE mattress but since I boondock mostly I wouldn't be using that feature much anyway.

Here's what I bought.

At some point I might change the mattress, but we opted for a 3” foam topper. Very comfortable. Don’t recall the exact one purchased, but got it through Amazon and it was a Camp Queen size. No need to cut down to size.

When we bought our 2019 we disliked the mattress so to "attempt" to make it better (being the el cheapo I am), we added a memory foam topper and it did very little. So we replaced it with a new mattress from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1)

It was really cool how it came in a relatively small box and once opened, it expanded so much.

MUCH better rest now.

Second the Zinus from Amazon. Liked it so much, bought Zinus twin mattresses for our spare bedroom for the grandkids, with frames.
Just remember, it’s a short or RV Queen size.

4" two-foam memory topper from Walmart over the OEM 'mattresses,' and it's turned into the best sleeping ever (seriously, this sleeps better than my mattress at home).

We added a memory foam topper and all is good. I've had two back surgeries, so I was surprised. I don't think it would work for anything permanent, but for long weekends or a week .. we've had no problems

I could not sleep on the mattress. We added a 4" topper. Hated that for longer than a few nights.

Changed to a new mattress and it's way more comfortable to sleep.
Same mattress as jd4010's

I thought we had the worst mattress ever. Like others a 4 inch memory foam matress saved the day for a fraction of the cost. We are happier with our camper bed now then the one at home.

I just checked on my new Zinus after only 24 hrs of "expansion time" (recommended 72 hrs).

Layed back on it and it's so nice I'll be ordering one for my home master bedroom in a King Size.

What a change!!!!!!

We got a 3" Serta topper to go over the existing mattress. One of the best purchases we acquired for the camper. Love it!!

Mattress topper

Last season purchased a mattress topper from MY PILLOW for my CC Silverback and it is great. They have all sizes including RV queen.

if you plan on spending a lot of time camping then i would go new mattress

The best i found is wilderness mattress . pricey but worth it . went the topper route only to be disappointed after a season .

We tried a 2” topper, then a 3” topper on our 2016, 2304KS, Murphy bed. 3 years ago we jettisoned to factory mattress and topper and purchased a 10”, Zinus, Green tea, short queen, on Amazon. It’s a real blessing! Very reasonable price, quick delivery. We liked it so much that we replaced our home mattress as well!

Couldn't agree more regarding the mattress. I just bit the bullet and ordered an RV mattress from these folks https://www.tochta.com and its arriving Tuesday (very quick custom turn around). I like the fact you can do any custom cuts, corners or "hinges" to your mattress right online and choose your thickness as well.
