New Member 2018 Rockwood Mini Lite 2509S
Hello,
New member here. We recently purchased a 2018 Rockwood Min Lite 2509s with the old style front end. We upgraded from a 2014 StarCraft AR-One 18fb hybrid. We have two kids 9 and 6 and they no longer wanted to share a bed when camping. In addition, the Starcraft had a 9 gal blank tank and 15 gal grey, so that wasn't going to work much longer.
We only used the Rockwood once in the month that we had it, but I am so glad we upgraded. The TT is awesome. The extra space, large bunk beds, larger tanks just makes camping so much more enjoyable. The outside kitchen is something I didn't care for at first, but after using it once I'm hooked.
I still need to figure out how to use the cable tv on this. We have two jacks outside. One for Sat and one for cable. There is a outlet near the tv with two jacks. One is for aux/sat and the other is for reg tv. I assume neither are needed for cable tv. There is a purple coaxial cable coming out from the cabinets which I assume is for the cable tv. Next time we go camping, I'll try to figure it out.
We only had one issue with the camper and one with the hitch. The dealer installed a Husky Centerline TS hitch and one of the brackets on the trailer is bent. Also, the hot water side of the bathroom faucet has little pressure, while the the rest have great pressure. Its most likely a obstruction in the line, but I may just bring it back to the dealer since its under warranty and to get the bracket on the hitch fixed.
Overall I've very happy with this TT. Hopefully we will get one more trip in before its time to winterize.

Congratulations on the purchase of your new TT. You will have many years of enjoyment.
Re: Cable TV, this is my experience when trying to figure out mine... I too have two outside connections for sat and cable. When hooked up to CG cable, I need to connect to the sat connection on the TT. Then turn on television and had no connection. Had to run the auto-scan on the television to get the signal going. When it comes to over-the-air signals, there may be an amplifier button on the connection receptacle.
Hope this helps.
Safe and happy travels.

Ok thank you. How long did your tv take to scan the channels?. I tried every combination. I cancelled the scan half way through because my tv found no channels at that point. Maybe I should have let it finish scanning, but I figured it should have found a couple channels after 5 mins.

Hmmm, have you tried both outside connections? Once I figured out I had to use the sat connection, it took the tv over 30 minutes to complete the scan.

Ah that explains it. I'll let it finish scanning next time. I did try both outside hook ups. I tried it with the purple coax cable and then I tried it using the aux/sat connect right next to the tv with the power booster off. In our last camper we had one hook up and I installed my own tv. It completed scanning channels in a few minutes.

On our 2015 Mini Lite, and again on our 2018 Mini, on the outside of the unit for the input, the cable and satellite were exactly as shown on the sticker label. When you open the "door" to expose the coax "ports" there is one on the left and one on the right. The sticker above the door reads "Cable/Satellite". The cable is labeled first so the cable port is on the left. Satellite labeled second, and thus the one to the right is satellite. Now its certainly possible for them to be crossed in manufacturing, so that's a trial and error thing.
As far as scanning, when I get to a campground with cable, and run the scan, it takes about 8 minutes to scan through 100 or so channels.
But it can be frustrating until you learn your unit. Different tvs have different ways of scanning, so you need to make sure you are doing it right for your particular tv. I have seen some where you think you are scanning cable but you are scanning over the air. And then, as mentioned, the cable/satellite inputs can be backwards. Plus, you also need to make sure your signal booster is turned off, as that is for over the air. Seems simple to get the tv working, but it is still a learning curve for everything. What works for me, may not work for you because of manufacturing deltas like crossing the cables. Id suggest make notes of your set up each time you try something. It will help you from doing the same thing multiple times, and help you narrow down the possible combinations for your next attempt

I remembered one more thing... on my tv, the auto-scan would not pick up any cable channels. I had to go to "Setup" in the menu, manually select "cable" then followed by the scan. Go fig.
Cheers,

Thanks for the tips. I think I might have been a little to impatient the first time since I was used to my other tv.
Just curious has anyone installed an awning for the slide out?

They're called slide toppers and most order the factory installed ones.
Next group has the dealer install them.
The smallest group DIYs it. Usually needs at least two people.

I have a new 2018 Rockwood Ultra Lite 2604WS. I am out at a campground with it on its "maiden voyage". My 32" Furrion TV that came with the Rockwood will not pick up the HD channels available through the cable connection. One of the service attendants came over to verify that all channels were available through the cable wire that I brought to run from the box to the trailer. He checked through all the connections inside and out, and they all transmitted HD channels to his device. All the channels came through the cable, but the TV will not pick up HD. If I use the OTA antenna, the TV will pick those up and display in HD. The DVD player on the iRV 35 unit plays DVD's in HD through the TV, but that is through HDMI. It is my conclusion that there is a defect in the television itself. When I run a channel scan, it will pick up nothing for cable, but it will pick up the cable signals for regular non HD stations without having the "green light" turned on. With the "green light" on, HD channels come in, but they are definitely through the roof antenna. Any ideas? Or.. just go for a replacement TV under warranty?

We did. My journey through this is documented here. There are a number of videos on YouTube that tell you how to and why you should do it.

Slide toppers are great for keeping leaf debris and small twigs away from the top of the slide. They will also help to shade the slider which makes the air conditioning more efficient. The only drawback that I have found is insects like stink bugs will accumulate under the topper, some of which will manage to find their way into any small gaps that are present, or get squished when the slide is retracted, thus releasing the characteristic odor they are known for.

I had dealer install slide toppers when I bought mine. Without the toppers, you need to go on roof and sweep the slide out before closing to insure no debris like limbs and stugff would damage the slide gaskets and such. The toppers clean themselves while pulling in the slides. Helps to keep water out also from slide out when open also if seals do not stop all water running which is very likely to occur at some point. Worth the investment for me.

I too just recently purchased a 2018 2509S and the cable hookups baffled me as well, so I took the microwave out and did some wire tracing. The bottom coax cable hookup is hooked to both the antenna and one of the coax cable hookups on the outside near the shore power cord labled "cable". The top one is hooked to the other coax hookup near the shore power cord labelled "satelite". On the bottom coax hookup inside, it splits off with purple coax to "set 2", which they have a splitter off of that, one running to the outside TV jack, and one extra purple coax that comes out the hole below the jack. I'm not sure why they put the splitter in with the purple cable out the hole as it will have the same output as the bottom hookup on the jack, not sure of the purpose. I took off the extra purple cable and have the tv hooked up to the cable/antenna jack and I get 70+ channels about 50 miles outside of Denver.

Thank you. I thought the way it was wired was strange too. Next time I’ll try the purple coax first and let the tv finish scanning. If nothing, I’ll try the bottom jack and let the tv finish scanning. The funny thing is we don’t really watch the tv when we go camping, We only watch tv if it’s raining and my kids are bored which seems to be happening more and more often.
