New Owner just want to say thanks!

Yesterday we picked up our new to us 2015 Rockwood 2304s. I just want to thank the forum as this forum provided amazing research! I'm planning to upgrade the WFCO converter to an Intelli-Power 9200 series converter and currently that's the list of upgrades.

Last three RV's we've owned had WFCO converters with no issues. Replacing it if it's not broke seems like a waste of time and money.

It seems to charge the batteries really slow, I have 2 12v batteries. Seems like many have said the WFCO isn't a very good unit and can over charge batteries? Is that not true? I'll be boondocking 75% of the time, with a 3300watt inverter generator.

Instead of replacing the converter, use the $ to upgrade your battery bank to deep cycle 6 volt batteries. If you plan on doing a lot of boondocking this will be best for you.

Just search 6 volt batteries and you will find a wealth of info...

WFCO replacement smart move

I was at the beach last summer without hook ups and ran the generator every day because the stock converter won't go into boost mode unless your battery is dead. Smart move to change out the board. You likely know that you don't have to change out the entire converter only the board. I ordered my replacement board before unloading the trailer. Stock converter is useless for boondocking. Happy camping.

Well after going through everything, the batteries are bad, will not hold a charge. I'm going to upgrade to 6v batteries and upgrade the converter. I'll keep the stock one as a backup. Went ahead and winterized it since we are now getting down to freezing.

I also got a harbor freight trailer tool box to turn into a lockable battery box that will hold 4 6v batts and a Stromberg Carlson generator rack to hold my 3300 watt inverter generator. First test of everything will be the end of Nov into early Dec.
