I would never trade my Shamrock. I don't trade anything in. If I were to do this I would sell it myself and order new in February of next year which would get me a 2019 model.
Personally I think the depreciation of Rv's is overstated because many people pay too much when they buy new (retail) and then compare to what they get in a trade (wholesale). This is an apples to oranges comparison. I prefer to purchase new, at or near the lowest price available anywhere at the beginning of the model year, keep it in excellent condition, and then when I ready to sell clean/wax/detail and sell at top dollar.
I paid 22K for my well optioned 23IKSS in April of 2017. This was a great price, and since I got it so early in the model year, I have already used it for 2 seasons and its still in like-new condition. Looking at other used models for sale, I think I could realistically sell it myself now for around 19K. I have no problem with 3K of depreciation for 2 years of use. Of course there's the sales tax, tags, etc. But how much would I get on a trade - 15K? Not gonna happen.
