No More Azdel Walls?

Just happen to notice this in a 2024 brochure, "Laminated Clay with Alloy Band Fiberglass Sidewalls".

My 2022 "The Rockwood Difference Panel" in my screen door touts "Double Sided Azdel".

Better? Worse? One of the reasons I chose this was the double sided Azdel. Supposedly holds up to moisture better.

I'd like to know what that means?
Laminated clay sounds somewhat like they moving to a brick veneer wall.

Mine has the Azdel walls also. The "new fiberglass" sounds like a latest and greatest material marketing scheme to say "look at us"...I would think that it would be "stronger" but I have nothing to compare that thought to. IMO, the industry is going to spend some big $$ now and in the future to improve their product to match the price tags being charged.

I also believe that the RV industry may be able to help the "affordable housing" industry and the rental housing market in the future. In my industry; many travel to where the construction work is. If they can create an affordable, compact, mobile unit that is well constructed it may change how people live and work. We can only dream.

Here in west Texas my little town has more RVs than houses if I had to guess I would say double the amount of RV between sand boom, oil, pipeline we ran out of rentals long ago. Whole Permian Basin is adapting to housing crisis thru long term hotel man camps RV parks ect

That's awesome! My grandson is in the same type of program here. Glad to see they still have programs for kids that want to be something more than a barista.

Not that there's anything wrong with wanting to be a barista; but, some want to accomplish more in life and I applaud them.

Clay is another word for ceramic. I'm surprised they don't use the word ceramic to jump on that bandwagon.

Take the high road. It's usually less muddy.

Rockwood has Azdel panels listed under 'construction' on the Signature line, but not the other lines.

Thats better, because a defining characteristic with clay, is expansion and contraction with varying moisture contents.

Not something you'd want sandwiched in your RV walls.

Hmmm, look at the Exterior Features seventh item down.

https://forestriverinc.com/rvs/flags...pro/E15TB/7988

Same with the Geo Pro

https://forestriverinc.com/rvs/rockw...pro/G15TB/8012

Now in the Fifth wheel you see Azdel mentioned in the Construction Features. Do not see that in the others though.

https://forestriverinc.com/rvs/flags...c-fifth-wheels

Seems to be hit and miss. Just wonder why the change?

Strange, mine even has the sticker on the outside stating Azdel. Seems if it is a new method they would use it as a selling point if it good or better. Maybe a question for Forest River.

Thought about that or maybe start watching some of Josh's videos, maybe he has brought it up?

I am not in the market so no big deal but just got me curious when I noticed it.

Here is the ROO construction features “ Vacuum Laminated One Piece Roof & Walls” and Interior & Exterior Composite Sidewall Construction. No mention of azdel. I saw this earlier and did not put it together because they still show Azdel onboard logo.

My 2012 Solera motor home has Azdel

Azdel is in contrast to the lauan plywood used previously in laminated sidewalls. I live 30 miles from the Gulf of Mexico and its very humid here. No issues with Azdel.

This thread is regarding 2024 Rockwood brochure information, not 2012 Solera information.
