Question Odd Middle Bump in Rockwood Windjammer Air Mattress

Hello,

We are a new owner of a 2012 Windjammer 3008W. The electric air mattress on the hide-a-bed sofa has never been used, and we opened it up today and filled with air. It is a brown/deep tan color and it worked great filling it up with air.

We flipped it so the black straps were on the bottom, and tied it on with the Velcro straps.

My question is that right in the middle of the air mattress, all across the width, is a raised area that sits in the middle of your back if you lie on the mattress with your feet at the end of it. What the heck is it? When you deflate the mattress to try and push that section down and get it flat, the whole air mattress deflates and you can't just flatten that one middle section.

If you lie on it, from your feet up to your waist you are flat on the mattress, then this bump area starts and it makes you arch your back up, then you slant back down from your shoulders to your head.

Any ideas what is going on with it?

Thank you!

B. Swanson.

Not sure if this is your problem, but air mattresses we owned in the past had internal baffles heat welded to the top, bottom and sides. We have experienced those welds failing, and that created a bump like you are describing.

It never happened on a new mattress though. You probably should contact the dealer about getting a replacement.

I think you are right! I hadn't even thought of that. I thought it was an attempt at making a pillow but they positioned it wrong on the mattress. Will have to replace it as you cannot rest on it in it's current state. It would work on the floor for little kids as they could use as a pillow since their feet won't hang off the end.

Thank you.
