Angry Pocket Door issues?

So our 3rd trip in our new 2012 Windjammer (3006W) was fun, until we got back home. We noticed the strap the holds the pocket door in the bunk room had ripped, casuing the door to slam against the latch. The latch bent, and the little "nub" on the door put a dime sized hole in the side of the entertainment center. My previous trailer had pocket doors, and I had nothing but issues, so I was not fond of the new one having 2 pocket doors. On the old one, I took some clear vinyl strap with snaps on it, one on the top and bottom to hold the door.

Im looking for other suggestions from fellow RV'ers. I will be calling FR on Monday, I hope the fix this! You see the hole as soon as you walk in the main door . I have read rave reviews about FR, and this was a part failure, but time will tell.

I have had the same trouble with other rigs. Easy thing to do is put a spring loaded tube across the space to the door. They make them for simple window curtian holders. I never did trust those mickey mouse snaps anyway.
Just like putting straps around the manual awning bars way up high.

Might be a good use for your slide-lock bar that you aren't using for it's (useless) intended purpose anyway !! Just a thought.

I don't know what the straps on the higher end trailers are made of but on our Salem they are a heavy clear vinyl like material. We haven't had any problems yet but I had thought about the possibility of them breaking so before we start out on a trip we set one of the kids duffel bags in each of the doorways, they are quite heavy yet soft enough to not mark anything.

I would say you could use some wood filler but even with the very best color match would still be noticeable. The only way to truly fix it would be a new panel with the same colored finish.Good luck with whatever fix you decide on.

I added 2 clear vinyl straps for now, 1 on top, and one towards the bottom. It's not moving now! I will be taking it in for the repair of the wood after the holidays. A quick call to FR made it seem as they would pick up the tab . Lots of good ideas, thanks for all the input.

Other than this lil mishap, love the trailer so far!

FR has agreed to fix the damages, and is shipping the new parts to my local repair facility.

They are replacing the panel that had the hole knocked in it.
