Power Problem help

Headed to help a friend who has a 2012 FR Sanibel 3500 by Prime Time. When plugged into a 50 amp outlet, he has 110 power but no 220. Any idea how to test and diagnose?

Not sure I'm following you here. The 50 amp 120/240 volt split phase service outlet only has 240 volts across the two hot legs (L1 and L2).

However his RV will not utilize 240 volts. It will utilize each leg (the L1 and the L2) as separate 120 volt lines....as everything in the RV is 120 volts.

As far as testing the outlet, it should be as below for a properly wired 14-50R. The slots marked Y and X are the L1 and L2 hot legs.

The voltage between Y and X should be 240-Volt, X and W 120-Volt, Y and W 120-Volt, X and G 120-volt, Y and G 120-volt, W and G 0-Volt

Where are you testing for power? You shouldn't have 220/240 inside the camper.

A 50 amp R/V service is two legs of 120v (split phase) just like a house.

If you read across the two legs you will read 240v but unlike a house, nothing in the rig is wired for 240v and consequently, the R/V breaker box allows only 120v circuits.

Sounds like you both need to study how a 50 amp service actually works.

More reading on understanding what a 50 amp split phase service is, and how RV's use 120 volts from this service.

https://www.rvtechmag.com/electrical/chapter3.php

Here is a diagram of 50 amp service at it pertains to the RV's electrical panel, so everything is only run on 120 volt

Thanks for the advise. I don't know crap about electrical work (except 12v) but I did find a couple loose wires that I re-crimped. The house battery was at 5.8volts. Power at the end of the 50A plug was good.
I think his (not sure of the real name) Power Distribution Box or inverter is not charging the battery properly when connected to either his truck or the land power. I was able to put a quick charge on his battery and then put a 2A charger on it to maintain it while he is here on vacation. He can get it looked at when he gets back home.

Thanks again. Definitely gonna keep the diagrams provided for future use
