propane detector buzz

Has anyone ever had a high pitched noise coming from their propane leak detector located just to the right of the fuse and converter panel ? I have a almost new Rockwood 2604 (slightly used, traded in a keystone bullet 250rks) both are 2011 models. I must say that I like the 2604 much better, even spent last saturday afternoon sitting in it watching the college football game. Wife says its my man cave! Anyway I hear this high pitch, but not over the tv or radio.

This sounds serious! Go out to your propane tank, turn off the propane and see if the buzz continues....NOW!

Low battery voltage will set it off. Are you plugged in to shore power? Is your battery charged and showing full charge on the monitor panel?

Do be careful, it may be for real.

I do have everything off, propane,tv,radio, mic, heat, air, lights. Had to put my ear right down and beside it befor I was sure of where it was coming from. Pushed the test button, it worked fine, but still the high buzz. Thanks Boyd and Windrider

The propane detector buzz is a common thread. High pitched and annoying if you can hear it. I can't hear it, my daughter says it drives her nuts. It is a bad detector. Replace it and all will be well.

Thanks Bill C, I will look into having it replaced. I think I will first pull it out and disconnect it from the power source to make sure that is the problem. Tell your daughter that it also drives me to insanity but my wife saye"what noise".

ha ha

Nice try Rugged Brown, but my hearing has allways been better than most, even though my wife (at times) claims otherwise! Thanks for your concern, but it is my eyes when I get to close to things that I have a problem with.

Mine went off when I sprayed Downy Wrinkle Release spray and it went off again when I walked past the detector when wearing the clothes I just sprayed! Scared the crap out of me. That thing is LOUD.

A lot of sprays use propane as a propellant. PAM vegetable spray for 1.

Methane gas will also set it off, no kidding. Watch out what you eat.

In my case, the noise reverberating from my derriere would certainly drown the constant noise of the alarm. Thats the truth.
