Propane Hose problems
Went to place something in my trailer and smelled propane. On opening the propane tank cover I discovered both hoses from the tanks to the regulator had blown off. Talking to my propane dealer, we discovered the hoses had not been properly crimped. I didn't shut the tanks off, but according to the dealer sometimes with the tank shut off, the hose may blow off in high heat. Fair warning.

Someone else just posted the same problem here yesterday...
Good idea to shut them off when not in use.
I live in Yuma, AZ where we've been hanging around 115+ degrees everyday for two weeks now!
Right now at 2:07 pm it is 114.3 outside on my porch.

On the bright side it appears you tank safety shutoff valves worked as they should stopping the high flow of propane. You will have to shut the tanks off and then insert the hoses and slowly open the tanks agin to reset the safety shut off it they did activate.

I had a leak on one of my propane regulator hoses as well. I was unloading my trailer at the camp ground and smelled propane. Luckily I didn’t need propane while I was there. Dealer replaced my hose since my trailer is not even a year old year yet.

My take is if a Hose Blows it should be just like turning on a tank too Fast and the Valve shuts the Flow Completely Off! The tank must then be shut off and opened Slowly after cause of Large Volume of Gas Release is Cured! Youroo!!

I have found that my grill tanks will activate the safety shut off if I open the valve too fast BUT it does not shut completely off. My grill 20LB tanks will allow the burner to light but it's a very low flame.
I think it would/could still be possible to smell propane with a tank safety activated.

I agree with you he did smell propane (must have been residual) and also that both hoses had blown off that is why I said the safety shutoff worked I should have added insert the NEW hoses! lol
