Question about 8289ws and 8282ws

Does anyone know why there is a different size Gray tank in these units?? We are looking at them both.

If you can believe the specs listed on the Forest River site, it would indicate that there's only 1 gray water tank in the 8282WS where most of the floorplans have 2 38 G gray tanks...one for the shower, one for the galley. Not sure why this would be as both floorplans should be able to have the same waste tank locations.

I'd have the dealer check directly with his Rockwood sales rep for confirmation.

Dave,
I see what you are saying, so I guess the Best answer would come from FF Direct??

If it's confirmed as only 1 gray tank, that would be the deal breaker for me with that floorplan. It not so much an issue if you only camp with full hook-ups, which we seldom do.

I'd expect the tank layout to be the same for most of the Rockwood 5W. There's a gray and black side by side (oriented north/south) under the bathroom, the fresh water tank across over the axles and a galley tank across the frame behind that. Some floorplans have the half bathroom and there'd be another black tank behind the galley tank. I can't see a reason that they couldn't have the 2nd gray tank with the 8282WS floorplan.

Do they have separate dump connections, or are all plumed into one?

RodeoGeorge

P.S. I have a 8289WS question in this thread that you may be able to answer.

The shower and bathroom sink are on 1 and the galley is on it's own. They have 2 outlets about a foot apart.......

I guess I'll be doing some plumbing work. Have to wait until I see ours to see what type of fittings will be required.

Thanks.

The 8289WS has a grey and black side by side up front, a grey in front of the axles for the galley and the fresh is behind the axles.

wa3pnt, I am sorry. I could have measured this last night for you. I will do that tonight and post as soon as I get a chance.

With the layout of the 8282WS it might not have the galley tank. I agree with Dave Monica about the lack of grey water storage if it does not have the second tank. Forrest River WILL NOT increase or add any water or waste capacity to a unit. We had ours back at the factory for some warranty work and asked to get a bigger fresh tank. The answer was a resounding NO and the dealer would not even discuss the issue. The smallish fresh tank is a bit of a problem but not nearly as much as an undersized waste tank.

All,
OK here is the correct answer right from FF.... the 8282ws Only has One gray tank because of where the galley sits and also where the axles are. The 8289ws has two tanks, because of where the sink is and where the bathroom is. They also said it was because of getting the Right pitch for the tanks. So I guess we may just zero in on the 8289ws....

We bought the 8289 last July. We had been looking at different fifth wheels for several years, we always seemed to migrate back to this floor plan. We moved from a 34 foot class A to this one, although we only had an opportunity to use it six weekends we really enjoyed it. The bedroom is a little tight compared to the motorhome but the kitchen and living area are pretty roomy for a smaller fifth wheel. The 8280WS was our second choice. It is a little lighter and the wife really liked the kitchen with the nice pantry and the big U shaped dinette.

If we had to redo it I think we would choose the same again. We'll see if we still feel this way 10 years from now.
