Question on slide out lock?

On my 2502s TT I have a spot for a slide out lock in the center of the slide. A sticker that says to put slide lock here. On the other end however on the slide itself is just a flimsy piece of pressboard that wont hold anything. Any one else come up with a better plan for the lock?

I used my slide locks religiously for the first year, then folks on here kept saying you don't need to use them. I haven't used them for the last 3 years & the slide has never budged. Your decision to use or not is probably going to be the general consensus here.

Lots of campers with the same LCI electric, through the frame slide drive don't come with the slide lock which is a pretty good indicator of their need.

Thanks everyone. I have not been using for a lock but instead using for a step support. Works really well.

I guess the reason for it is if something broke in the slideout assembly and it could become "free" and slide out while towing. It wouldn't take much force to hold it in if that happened. Odds are this will never happen but I will probably use mine on longer trips.
