Real (comfortable) Murphy Bed Mattress Change

We replaced the heated plank that was the original mattress with an 8" thick memory foam one from "MattressInsiders"

If you look on their website, go to rv mattresses, we went with the 8" one...

It is about 50 lbs, fits the murphy perfect, we have the 60x74".

Folds back up with no issues.

Excellent quality, nice looking mattress, shipped fast, folded down and compressed to fit in a box.

If you are wondering what to get for your murphy bed, I think anyone would like this one, if you like a soft mattress that gives complete support to all your high and low spots.

We've got the same queen size 10" memory foam mattress in our house, Puma TT and Wildwood TT with murphy bed. I don't understand the insistence of RV manufacturers in putting in 74" beds. I've yet to find a camper where I couldn't use an 80". I add on to the bed frame and it works fine. Even folds up perfectly as a murphy bed with no issues. I will say this- with the murphy bed, a standard old school type mattress probably wouldn't work but the memory foam is flexible enough it fits nicely.

I totally agree

Funny I got the very same 8" mattress from Mattress Insiders for my Rockwood 2304ks Murphy bed and you absolutely took every word from my mouth!

Hi Jim,
These are great. I ended up getting a 10" Lucid gel memory foam RV queen mattress for my 2304KS murphy bed. DW loves it. It is even better than our 12" model at home. The 10" model is about 50 pounds. Very worth it!!

This is interesting. Others have described their Murphy bed mattresses as very comfortable to the point of not bothering with a gel pad.

Yeah, we were hoping the original would be comfortable, but it was not...

Tag on it said Michiana, or something like that. Michigan Indiana mattress makers?

They should make one more, then quit... better yet stop altogether.

We have used our MattressInsider 8" for a week now and it is very nice. Total support, dont want to get out of bed in the morning.

Pricy but worth it.

Awesome suggestion. I have been looking for something better on our Rockwood 2306.

We put a non-foam (normal) topper on ours to soften it up a bit. Worked great and is super comfy. It was maybe $40.

We like our original mattress just fine, but if we change our mind we know where to go.

Does the 10” mattress fold up okay in the Murphy bed?

I had a 10 inch and it fit, but not much room left pillows and bed coverings. A good quality 8 inch would be better.

We have the mini lite 2507s with Murphy. Ours has the original heated foam mattress and I added the Sertapedic topper. We're warm and perfectly comfy.
