Real world hitch weights for 2509s

Hey folks, I'm looking to get some real world data on hitch weights (tongue downforce) for the Rockwood 2509S. Would be happy with data that covers dry and/or loaded--either would be useful.

I'm calculating math on the 'dream', which is to pull this thing with a Grand Cherokee instead of a pickup , and everything looks to be very close to the limits of a GC. The hitch weight is my biggest concern though.

The forest river site reports a hitch weight of 694lbs; I'm not sure what that includes (empty propane tanks I'm assuming?). Also, it's a heavier number than other sites report for the same model; several sites report 660 lbs. I'm not sure what actual real world weight might be.

Any real world data would be appreciated. I did a search but haven't see this yet. Thanks.

Until someone shows up with a real number, here's an estimate (ignore dry weight numbers, they're for suckers):

The FR website shows UVW is 5170 lbs and the CCC is 1524 lbs. That means the GVWR will be about 5170 + 1524 = 6694 lbs. (This is close to my 2503S's GVWR of 6538 lbs.) Tongue weight usually runs 12-15%. If you assume the lower 12%, that's 803 lbs, but could be a bit more. Assuming you have a WD hitch (and you SHOULD), that's another 75-100 lbs, so I'd bet your tongue weight will be close to 878 lbs, maybe a bit more.

Look on the drivers door frame of your Grand Cherokee and see what it says for your payload limit. The payload number has to include the 878 lbs hitch weight above, PLUS anything you put in the truck: you, wife, kids, dogs, stuff, etc.

If you're looking at actual trailers, look at the white sticker on the drivers side of the trailer. It will tell you the actual GVWR of the trailer you're looking at. Here's mine:

Thanks, really appreciate the breakdown. It's definitely looking like I'm going to have a hard time keeping the tongue weight below ~900ish. Max tongue weight on a GC is around 720 (some models state 740), so might just be too much trailer for this thing.

I don't have the GC yet, nor the trailer; looking to get a TV and also a TT all within the next year or so. I love the 2509S, but I really really am trying to avoid a pickup.

Appreciate your response.
