Rear View Camera on Rockwood 8312ss

I just installed a backup camera on my pickup and travel trailer. Men or Women, if you are tired of your spouse "assisting," you in backing up your trailer this is the hot ticket! I read on the forum about people trying wireless camera's on trailers but due to trailer length and interference in signal they often times do not work.

I found a hard wired system on Rear View Rear View Safety | Product | Backup Camera System | RVS-770613

I purchased the two camera system. It was very easy to install. I now have no problem hooking the trailer to the truck, and no problem backing into camp spots. I also like the fact that I don't have to judge distance between myself and the car I just past. I know when it is safe to slide back into the right hand lane, and don't need truckers to flash their lights to let me know it is safe!

Thanks FarmerMT. We just picked up our 8310ss and this item is already in my Amazon cart. Quick did you run your camera cable from the back to the front of the TT?

I'm not FarmerMT, but I can tell you that I ran my cable in the underbelly, then up the back of the ladder and mounted the camera to the ladder. The trailer we had before I just tie wrapped it to the frame along the side. If there was a splice I put marine grade shrinkwrap on it.
Its great that I can see behind me while changing lanes and backing in.

I installed a hard wired BU camera on my first 5r, an 08 Cougar. I removed it when I sold it and have installed it on our new Rockwood. I have it connected to the in dash nav unit along with a always on switch that I wired in. It wasn't expensive as I only needed the camera and 50' of 18/3 wire, a $2.00 switch from Radioshack and a connector I got from a wrecking yard to match what I have on the truck. 5 years of using this setup and still working great.
