recommendation for a portable quiet generator?

Hi,

Just wanted to know what kind of porable generator are you guys using? How much watts do I need? I'm new to this. I don't know how many watts is needed. Should I get GAS version or Propane? or Dual?

Please advise on what you guys are using and what wattage do I need. I need one that is compact and light weight as my trailer is over the limit

Costco has been selling that generator for years and at a cheaper price. Be aware that it is NOT a Yamaha generator. It has a Yamaha engine but that's it.
And if you want to run the a/c, you'll need a second one or install Micro-Air soft start kit.

If I were to buy a generator, I'd get a Predator 3500 from Harbor Freight. They get great reviews for being quiet, reliable, affordable, and powerful.

Well....$520 for 1600 watts. Compare those specs to this:

200 watts more for $90 less. It won't run the A/C by itself, though. What are you looking to run with a generator?

I"m looking to run AC. so do I need a higer watts? can someone recommend me one that is portable and light and quiet so I can run AC?

the reason why I went with the SC200I Yamaha is because I can get it locally for around $300. so that is why I'm asking. its portable and good. But as you stated I cannot run A/C? A/C mean the wall outlet right?

A/C means air conditioner not AC electrical outlets. Again, it depends entirely upon which electrical loads that you want to run to determine how much wattage generator you need. If you want to plug a table light into an AC electrical outlet then you only need a 100 watt generator. I have this generator:
EP2500i, China EP2500i portable inverter generator, 2100W running, 2400W starting Manufacturer & Supplier

It will run my microwave. AC electrical outlets including an electrical heater plugged in. A coffee pot. Run the converter to charge the batteries. Run my refrigerator on AC power. But not all that at once, just one of those high current items at a time (in addition to charging the batteries). It will even barely run my air conditioner at low altitudes.

Mine does not have parallel capability though. Parallel capability allows you to connect 2 inverter generators together to combine their wattage outputs so you can run air conditioning in addition to another large load such as a microwave, refrigerator, heater, etc.

What wattage do I need to run AC?

I was reading online AC in the Geo Pro trailer only uses around 1800 watts. to startup and 650 watts running. If my generator is 2200 watts. I should be good ? no?

My experience with my Geo Pro G17RK with a 13,500 BTU air conditioner was very similar to this with my 2100 watt generator:

At 5,000' elevation, though, my generator would not allow the air conditioner to start without tripping offline.

In summary, it is just barely enough generator to start the air conditioner at low altitudes. And don't plan on running any other major electrical load along with the air conditioner.

You can also add a soft-start capacitor to the air conditioner to make it easier to start on a low wattage generator.

I have had my off brand Chinese generator for two years. It is a bit hard to start, have to pull the cord maybe 20 times when it is cold. But it does everything I want it to.

There will be lots of people that disagree with me, though. But I have been happy.

I don't think you're reading the post clearly.
NO, it won't run the a/c unless you add a Micro-Air kit as I said in my previous post.

I ended up putting a soft start on my 15k btu air conditioner in my 2205s, and use a Westinghouse iGen 2500 generator from Sam’s Club. The unit weighs under 50 lbs and works great. It always starts within 3 pulls. It run the ac, tv, and satellite tv systems with no issues. Plus, it is pretty quiet.

Keep in mind the Honda has a 121cc engine vs. the 79cc motor in the Yamaha
