Refrig GAS light won't stay off
Just went out to the RV to turn on the refrigerator in preparation for camping Thursday (it's a NorCold unit). Set it to 'auto' and RV is plugged in to electricity. After a few seconds, the GAS light comes on and stays on. It's supposed to default to the most efficient power source, i.e. electric. But can't seem to get that darned GAS light to stay off. Have checked the user manual-- no help there. Any ideas?

Is your propane on? if not, put on and see if light goes off. What model of Norcold fridge you have?

Yes, sometimes it takes a few resets to get the brain to figure out what it wants to do. (And, like the Fonz said, make sure the propane is on...if it decides to use propane, no biggy, it doesn't use a whole lot anyway and should switch over to 12V.)

Do you have 120 volt going to the unit? If using a Ground Fault outlet at the house is it tripped. If there is no 120 volt at the unit it will go to gas.

Unplugged the RV from the 30-amp plug on my house. Checked ALL the breakers on the RV and flipped each one off and back on. (Even though none were tripped.) We know there is full power to the refrigerator. My friend checked it with his electrical gizmo. For now I've turned on the propane and it's cooling down using that. Well-- the freezer's cooling down-- I don't see any temperature change in the refrigerator portion yet and it's been over a half hour. (Symptom of some other problem???)

Takes at a minimum 12 hours to cool down.

It's a NorCold N611. Am more worried now-- it's been on for awhile and only feel coolness in the freezer, nothing in the lower part. Is that normal?

Perfectly normal operation. As mentioned, it can take a good 8-12 hours to reach temperature (stop opening the door ) and 24 is even better.

Yes, this is normal. The freezer will get cold first and then the fridge. It can take a long period of time, as mentioned in previous posts, to get cold. Opening the door to check isn't helping.
I'm lucky to have a fridge that gets cold pretty fast in about 2-3 hours.

Putting dual fans inside the frig and dual fans outside at the bottom of the tubing and above the burner will decrease the cool down time and increase the overall cooling capacity of the unit. When I turn the frig on, I also turn all 4 fans on. I never run the frig without the fans.

Although you've got it cooling on gas now, I haven't heard that you solved your AC problem.
You should check (test and reset) all your GFCI's. The outlet that the fridge AC cord is plugged into (behind the inlet vent panel on the side) is GFCI protected... it may be its own GFCI but more likely to be a downstream-protected outlet off either a kitchen or bathroom GFCI (out previous TT had only one, our new FW has an additional one in the kitchen).

Fraz, what you need to know is that refrigerators are really just freezers, that bleed, or fan assist cold air into the "fridge" portion. Rv dual fuel refrigerators work slighly different, but the principle is the same. The freezer needs to be at spec temperature, before the fridge section can attain its designed temps.

If you want it to cool down faster freeze some bottles of water and put them in the fridge. We turn ours on 4 days before a trip with the bottled water. That side of the trailer is in direct sun most of the day and slows it progress.

Yes, they take quite a few hours to get cold...we always park the trailer outside our house the night before heading out in order to both load it up and get the fridge working. (And leave it on gas while driving to keep cold.)
