I get what you are saying and I see this posted a lot and agree. However...

If you lock nothing, then the honest people get something as well as the thieves so logically the potential to lose twice as much or more?

Yes no lock is perfect, but given that then why do you lock your main door of the RV, they are made of the same cheap lock system keys. Depending on your rig can be opened in seconds.
RV Company's use a handful of masters, so the odds are good you have the same front door key as your RV Neighbor with the same model or manufacture.

I'd Change the lock on the door, RV Lock and all the storage compartments with a cam Lock that can't be opened with a ball point pen.

Not invite someone to my RV to the goods behind the door

I have a 2509s as well, a 2018 model. I have been very happy with the cam locks I purchased from INDUSTRIAL LOCK & HARDWARE. I replaced all the cam locks on the storage lockers, and also the smaller one on the outside shower door.... all keyed alike with the round type keys.

I also replaced the door lock with a keyless entry/combination push button. Been happy with that as well.

I don't like dealing with (or losing) keys, so we do everything keyless. These are combination locks that you can use with your storage bays.

They worked great for us.

I replaced mine with a non-standard keyed set, so your keys don't work in mine...problem solved...so far

I have these from Amazon and you can set your own combination

Scrolling through the Amazon page they had multiple choices along with these tubular locks

Personally I replaced my storage locks and propane knobs with combination locks. Just look on net under rev combinationlocks. They run about $12 each.

Dear jstone75,
When we got our Dynamax REV 24CB Class C out on its shakedown cruise, we found the keys to the storage compartments worked only on the coach battery compartment. Brother-in-law used a particular locksmith in the Portland area for all the needs associated with his vending machine and food brokerage route trucks. It took them about all of 30 minutes to rekey all the locks on all the storage spaces, except the battery compartment. Haven’t had any problem since. BTW, YES we watched the walkthrough guy at the dealership open every compartment, and I would have sworn I watched him turn the key on every one...just wouldn’t work for me.

I don't lock the compartments or main doors when we camp. I don't have any issue with everyone having the same key (I see it as a good thing) as most thieves will just pop the storage compartment doors open with a big screwdriver they won't bother with a key.

If it makes you fell better spend the money change the locks. 35 plus years of camping never had any one try to get in or anything stolen.

Of course, it depends on where you live and where you camp, but in my case, I removed all the locks on my compartments. I never go anywhere I would worry about someone stealing anything, and having to unlock/lock the compartments all the time was more of a pain that it was worth.
I just swapped all the thumb-turn compartment locks with non-locking catches (the same thing without the lock cylinder). Got them from Amazon. I love it this way.
Not for everyone, I'm sure, but there really isn't anything in any of the compartments worth much anyway. If someone else needs it more than I do, I'd rather they didn't damage anything getting it.

So jstone75 this boils down to spending a lot of money or buying locks that will not have keys floating around every lake, camp ground, and resort out there. I bought the barrel locks from a suggestion of a member here on the same information. I've been very happy with them, I even bought the dust covers for like $5.00 more. I did put a keyless combination lock on our entry door, spent some money on it. It was $300.00 to $400.00. And we are happy with with both decisions. If you are going to look at barrel locks, I will give you the information the other member gave me.
Good luck in your pursuit.

Happy Camping!

Forest River Should Have Thought of This

I haven't replaced the storage-door locks, but I did turn half of them around so I can always hold the key the same way!

I bought mine at https://shoprvlocks.com/ (Industrial Lock and Hardware). 12 locks all keyed the same with backer plates.

True That!

I also rotated all my compartment thumb locks and key locks to the horizontal position when closed/locked. That makes it quick and easy to check for unlocked doors during my walk- around inspections.

I completely agree with the excellent write up from skip 12. I wish I had seen it before I ordered the same locks. Great company and the measuring guide is essential. “Wrong position” on the cam governor can mean you could end up with the key not able to be removed in the locked position. It’s nice to have all the keys in same position for locked/unlocked.
