The CO detectors have a 5 year lifespan. I pulled mine and it had a "replace" date on the back and was up last month.

I haven't checked my LP detector yet but I may be asking the same question as you.

Our LP detector was 7 years old and would intermittently go off. The first time it did it at night I cut the wire and ordered another one. The 1st one was a surface mount but I replaced it with a flush mount. I had to enlarge the hole which is easy and it gives it a cleaner look.

All detectors have a life span, CO detectors accumulate within a filter, thus have an early replacement of 5 yrs (this includes your residential detectors) Smoke detectors have a life span of no more than 10 years, and I would suspect LP detectors have a life span between 5 ad 10 yrs, due to the technolgy utilized to operate. Always a good idea to change before they expire.
