Rockwood 2306 in Northwest
Hello. We are looking to buy our first travel trailer and although we have not seen one in person, are very attracted to the 2306 Mini Lite.
Several questions
Our problem is that they are not easy to find here in Montana. I have been emailing to get quotes but most dealers I find online are far away.
One quote had the region on the unit as Region 2. The Forest River site had the 2306 as all regions. Is this trailer appropriate for Montana?
We loved this unit because of the Murphy bed. To get a 2014 the best quote we are getting is $18,000 unless we travel great distances. There is a new 2012 RW 2306 in Utah without the Murphy bed for $14,500. This seems like a good price, but we really had our hearts set on Murphy bed. While the price is ok, a queen/bunk set up is pretty common and we are wondering if we would be better served to go with a different brand and shop locally.
For those who have or have a least seen the 2306 without the Murphy bed, does it seem super crowded? Is 14,500 a pretty good deal and worth traveling 5 hours for?
We are a family of four. Our kiddos are 10 and 7. We have been tent camping for years and will be pulling with a Nissan Armada rated with a tow capacity of 6000#.
Any insight as you why you love your 2306, how much I should expect to pay, and availability of this unit in the Northwest would be appreciated!

Welcome to the forum! The murphy bed concept is the best IMO. You get a queen size bed, dinette, sofa in a compact package. Our kids are 12 and 10 and we were very comfortable, but, we too came from tents so we don't know the comforts of the big 30 ft+ units, LOL. I would not want the unit without the murphy bed. It just cleans up so nice when you can lift that bed up and out of the way and it creates much more room. We got our 2013 unit for the $14.5K range so I don't think price is affected that much whether you get the murphy bed or not. We live in Ohio, however, and we are fortunate enough to have RV Wholesalers within a few hours from home so we can go through the unit.
A sister unit to the 2306 is the Flagstaff 23LB. Exact same trailer just different stickers. You might want to see if you can find a Flagstaff dealer closer to home. I would also check out the Lance 2185 which is a similar size and weight. While it doesn't have a murphy bed, it has something similar plus with a slideout and large dinette. You will probably pay much more than the 2306, however.

We have 2306 without the Murphy bed and love it. You get the front window and tons of storage under the queen bed (pass-through). We have two younger kids that love hanging out on the bed so it doesn't seem crowded at all. Either way it is easily on of the best floors available.

Thanks for the replies.
I would prefer the murphy bed, but can't find one with that option for a decent price.
The one in Utah for 14,500 is the best price I've seen, so maybe we will pull the trigger.
I don't think the murphy bed is worth 4 grand!

It seems odd that you cant find one cheaper. Just an FYI... The Murphy Bed is only a $350 option. That was quoted to me by two different dealers. Even if you ordered this camper to be built to your preferences, it should be well under $18,000 with many of the upgrades.

The murphy bed doesn't cost $4K. I think this is an example of a dealer not giving you a decent deal. When we shopped for our unit, we got 3 bids, one was $4K higher than the other two. All were for identical units that needed to be ordered so there weren't any in the dealer lots. The dealer who quoted the higher price would not budge so we walked. It might be worthwhile to get a quote from RVWholesalers. They will order a unit with the options you want at the best possible price. I have heard from several families that ordered units from them and drove to Ohio to pick it up. They made a mini vacation out of it.
Get the unit you want. You shouldn't have to sacrifice.

We are in Montana so going to Ohio or PA is really not an option, and delivery is thousands.
The murphy bed option doesn't cost 4 grand, but the best quote I've gotten on a 2014 in the Northwest is 18,500. Threre is a new 2012 on a lot in Utah for 14,500. If that same dealer orders a new one it's 18,500.
I'm jut not fining many of these units in the Northwest.

Well, if you can decide definitely on one, going out of state to pick it up could make for a great trip. Some dealers have an association with a campground and you can spend your first night close by. Then any questions/issues can be taken care of before you head home. By then you could have mapped your course, made reservations and had a great trip home!

Surfmontana, did you find a 2306? Did you have to drive and pick it up or have it shipped? I am in Portland Or. and have determined this tt is best suited for my 2001 4.7l Toyota Tundra. Hope you are still on this forum. Looks like Im a few months behind here- - -Stovocor
