Rockwood 2604ws ultra lite

I tow my Rockwood 2604ws with a 2016 f-150 w the Twin turbo eco boost. I have the heavy tow pkg and 3.55 rear end. I also have an equalizer anti sway system which works great. I get about 6-7 mpg loaded at 65-70 mph and 7-8 mpg at 60 mph . Is this pretty normal? If not is there any thing else that I can do to improve mpg?

I have almost the exact same set-up but with the 2703WS and I get a bit better than that but not dramatic. I stay close to 10mpg on a flat road at 65. One thing I have found is that the tow haul doesn't shift as fast as I would like. It tends to stay in a higher gear longer than I would like when coming into a hill. I use the manual shift pretty often. Believe it or not, I noticed the biggest hit to mileage when I went from load range C regular passenger tires to BFG K02 light truck tires. It impacted mileage by 2 or 3mpg. The bottomline though is if you are worried about mileage this isn't your hobby!!

That’s true. Thanks for the post. I’ll try the manual shift on my next trip. That’s exactly what happens on my rig in auto tow haul mode, uses 4th and 5th a lot. I do have better tires . Good year Endurance trailer tires. Probably checking the air in them more often may help too.

It's funny that you mention the Endurance tires. I just put them on not long ago and have had them for one trip. I may have noticed a little better mileage but I have only had one trip and it was in the Appalachians so I think more trips are in order before I say for sure!

2606ws

I have the same year 150 with ecoboost. I have 3.73 axle with hd trailer tow. I get 8-9. I don't use tow haul because I dont like the way it downshifts. I use manual when I get in some substantial hills. I am headed to the western national park in a couple weeks so out should be interesting.

We have a 17 f150 with the 5.0 and flagstaff 25bh(2504) our first trip was 1500 miles @ 7-8 mpg. On our 2nd trip 1100 miles, I used premium gas $$$$ and I installed a bed cover, we got a little over 10mpg. They were 2 different routes but everything seemed to be a lot smoother, the truck didn’t seem to working as hard, stayed in 5th more with no 3rd gear.....3.55 rear....just my observation nothing scientific

Just to add another data point:
Truck and trailer as per signature below.
Rear end is 3.73, 10 spd transmission and the trailer is heavy (~7500lbs empty).
I get 8.2 mpg average when manually locking out the 8th, 9th and 10th gears (overdrives) in tow mode and 7.4mpg if I let the transmission run all gears - always using regular gas.

Towing my previous 23IKSS (5400lbs dry) with the same truck I would get 10mpg locking the overdrives out....
