Rockwood 8281ss Questions

ok, i got two camping trips under my belt in our new Rockwood 8281ss and i have a few questions,
1. dose anyone know where the inverter is located ?
2. the 30 amp fuse in the front power jacks seems to blow alot, anyone had this problem?
3. what kind of lubricant can i use on the slide out moving parts ?
4. the big slideout awning seems to trap water, is this normal ?

thanks for any help

1.There isn't an inverter (12v to 120V). The converter (120V to 12V) is behind the power center.

2. Only when I've made the mistake of running the jacks all the way to the stop.

3. I use graphite spray lubricant.

4. One of the reasons that I don't have them.

ditto ...no inverter but a converter, it's located under the fridge...

the only time I have blown fuses on the landing gear was retracting and hitting the end...as soon as there is any hint of the motor bogging down...stop, or mark the gear fully retracted.

damn... I just bought some slide awnings

Lippert recomends using silicone spray lube on the slide moving parts to keep from attracting dirt. If blowing fuses on landing gear from bottoming out I have a red line painted on mine just before they bottom that is where I always stop it and I never bottom it that way. Also you can buy a air wedge to put under slide awing to keep water off of it but then you have to remember to remove it when you bring in the slide some people have also made a frame of Pvc to do the same thing. I don't have slide covers on mine have been told they help but also have heard of alot of problems with them also.

My slide cover over the larger slide does the same thing. I was told the sag won't hurt anything as the weight just pulls extra awning out of the roll. Just retract the slide, it will dump the water. Or if you have a step stool you can reach up and pull down on the handle, it will wind in the extra awning. Every time I do that it dumps off the opposite side of the slide so I stay dry. I have heard of the air wedge, however if it doesn't hurt anything why pay the money and risk damage if you forget to pull it out!
