Rockwood mini lite 2504S vs 2509s

My family and I can't decide which one. Anyone have any suggestions? 2 kids, 12 and 11, girl, boy.

Can't see anything really different except the bunk sizes.

Any input would be most appreciated!

Thank you!

The 2509S gives you bigger bunks and an outside kitchen. In exchange, you appear to get a slightly smaller bathroom (you lose the linen closet) and a smidge less counter space. The 2509S entertainment center is also better for U-dinette viewing. Weights are essentially identical.

The kids will like the bigger bunks. The DW will probably like a bigger bathroom.

Personally, I'd get the 2509S. But only you can decide.

Last month we purchased a 2017 Rockwood Mini Lite 2504s! We were able to compare the 2504s and 2509s as they were parked 3 feet from each other on the lot! [emoji2] We had intended to get the 2509s (due to the wider bunks) but after comparing them item by item the 2405s won out hands down for us.

The 2509s has wider bunks plus an outdoor kitchen. The 2405s has thinner bunks and no outdoor kitchen. Instead the 2405s has a slide bar and propane fitting at the midpoint of the trailer (beneath the awning) that allows you to mount the grill to the trailer and use the trailer's propane tanks. The lack of outdoor kitchen on the 2504s allows the entire space under the lower bunk to be for storage accessible from inside and outside the RV. The outdoor kitchen on the 2509s uses up almost the entire portion of this under bunk storage. The 2504s has a extra cabinet over the sink area that does not exist in the 2509s. Finally, the bathroom in the 2405s is larger due to gaining the space given up by the thinner bunks.

I will always go for more storage! The 2405s has at least 20% more storage than the 2509s. The second reason we liked the 2405s was the larger bathroom. The third reason the 2509s was ruled out, we felt the outdoor kitchen was a waste for us. We grill A LOT but the sink was of no use and the refrigerator was redundant as we keep a cooler full of drinks on a rear bumper rack. We did purchase a removable extension for the propane hookup under the awning that enables us to grill further back off the rear of the trailer. We prefer not to grill under the awning or right up next to the trailer due to the smoke/soot/grease/splatter.

We bought and use the 2504s for the extensive traveling we do for our 11 yo daughter who plays competitive Fastpitch softball. She is tall (5'4) and fits comfortably in the bunk. We have also traveled with her 13 yo BFF in the second bunk and both said they were comfortable and didn't indicate they were too narrow.

We really love the trailer and are satisfied we made the correct choice. Hope this helps in your decision making!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! There is no dealer around me that has both the models for me to do this comparison! All the reasons you stated, Kintu2, are the ones that had me initially wanting the 2504S, but I thought the kids would like the wider bunks better. Now, I have to find a way to see the 2504S!!!

30" wide bunks are probably OK but it's the 72" length that was a problem for my teenage sons. By 16 they were all pushing close to 6' tall. We chose to skip the bunkhouse and they sleep on the U-shaped dinette and pull out sofa. That leaves room for a much larger bathroom. With our boys, they had no problem sharing the queen size bed that the U-shaped dinette turns into, but I realize you have a boy and a girl. If your kids can share a bed (i.e. the U-shaped dinette) as they grow taller, look at the 2503S.

We picked up our 2509s last weekend. It was between that and the Roo 233. I can tell you about my experience with it in the first weekend. First setup and breakdown is a snap. My kids are much younger (2 and 4) but they chose to share the lower bunk and I was still able to crawl in comfortably in the morning. My wife is 6'2" and she spent a whole night with the 2 year old and said she slept comfortably. Everything is very slick and easy to use. It pulls like a dream (full length of garden state parkway in NJ), a road notorious for narrow lanes and aggressive drivers. I really can't imagine how it gets any better. I like the idea of an extension for the propane, have to see if I can rig something.

We went with a 2017 2504S. The storage space comes in real handy for family of 4 + dog. Considered the 2509S, but the outdoor kitchen wasn't on our list as we have a Camp Chef grill. We were able to change the grill over to quick connect. So the propane port comes in handy.

Good luck. Either way you'll enjoy the memories.
