rockwood thermostat

Have a early 2017 rockwood 8328bs with a analog thermostat. Will a digital one work better?

Yes
I surprised that a 2017 Rockwooddoesn't have a digital thermostat.

I replaced our 2017 Windjammer analog thermostat with the digital version. Direct replacement, even uses the same screw holes, and wire colors. Very simple job. Digital thermostat works great, I just wish it was back-lit. I found for about $60 on Amazon.

I installed the same one. The top screw on mine was a little lower.

My only complaint is that it's not back lit, other than that, works like a charm.

x2....I did exactly what Dankirk mentions on our last 2 trailers...very easy fix, and exactly as dankirk mentions. Got both mine on amazon as well. It can be had in white if you prefer it that way...One thing I did after a suggestion from someone on the forum here...once you remove the old stat, the hole in the wall can be quite big, so secure the wires somehow so you don't lose any into the hole. Also, because the walls are so thin on these trailers, you can get hot or cold air trapped in the walls that can be several degrees different than the ambient temp that the stat is reading in the air. So before putting the new stat on the wall, I filled the hole with a bit of fiberglass insulation so that the thermostat only reads from the ambient air and not from trapped air that can be coming from the wall, leading to the stat getting an inaccurate reading.
Added bonus to the digital stat is that it has a 1 degree variance from your set temperature point as opposed to the 3 or more that the analog one has. This is probably the best mod I made on our last 2 units.

I installed the digital Coleman Mach. It controls better but it reads about 4 degrees high.

Just replaced mine today

I just replaced mine with the digital version today. Perfect fit, and the wires are the same. I read a lot of threads about replacing the analog version with Honeywell home thermostats, but this one looked like a no-brainer. And it was. Took about 30 minutes to install and test. I like no-brainers. And there was no bloodshed as there is usually with anything I try to do

I did the exact same thing. You can't get any easier. If you really take your time, it may take 10-15 minutes to complete the job...

I also replaced my cruddy analog 'stat with the upgraded digital version. Spliced the wires easily enough, but the original unit was mounted with a single screw in the middle secured to a wall "stud". The screws in the actual side mount holes were just for show. There was no center hole in the new thermostat, so I used a couple of really shallow molly anchors in the standard location which made a nice, secure installation.
The digital unit does a much better job of maintaining a steady temperature with the A/C. Easily worth the cost and effort.

Another happy owner of the digital version. Easy install, did fill the hole with insulation. Works a lot better. Used blue crimp connectors.

Digital version is great. Holds the temp much better. Set it on 70 and as soon as it hits 72 the ac turns on. Use to be 74 on the old one. Nice, easy upgrade.

I like my RVcomfort digital tstat as well however it does have one downside. Because it holds temp very tightly, the furnace cycles quite frequently when it is cold out. My three season 5th wheel cools off fairly quickly and my furnace heats quickly, hence the frequent cycling with a small deadband in the tstat. The frequent cycling is a nuisance and frequent cycling of the furnace reduces efficiency. Likewise for the a/c on a hot day.

This was less of a problem before I bypassed the lossy and leaking heat ducts and now get twice the heat from the furnace.

Yes. The analog can have a 3-5 degree swing on either side of the set. I swapped out to the the Coleman Mach digital several months ago and it will hold 1-2 degrees on either side of the set temp.

I love it and it was a 15 minute job.
