rockwood trailer wiring help please

2002 rockwood tent camper 1980 series

spent about 6 hours of my life on this silly problem. Have a 4 way flat plug from truck to hitch to my camper. Camper has black and white wires which were grounded by previous owner. I assume black is power based on research to run camper electric during tow and white is ground so that wiring those to ground should be fine.

the other wires are red, green, and probably dark brown. Those must go to yellow, green and brown for 4 way plug but I have tried all options to get the trailer lights to work to no avail.

Can anyone tell me which wires to connect 4 way to the five wires for the camper? Thanks in advance.

A 4 way flat will supply power fror lights only.

Brown - Tail & Marker Lights
Green - Right Turn
Yellow - LeftTurn
White - Trailer Ground

I think you may need a larger plug coming from the truck.

Sorry, I re-read your post and see you're only trying to get the lights working. Is that correct?

You may need a Muli-Meter to diagnose the problem.

thanks

Thanks for such a rapid response. I think I may need to rewire the trailer side harness to a 4 way or i need a converter.

wow what a dummy

okay i took the tail light covers off the back to figure it out. why didnt i do this at first? trouble shot it to the four way connector that the previous owner had wired to the five way rockway connector. it has a short.

for future of those trying to figure this out:

black for battery to power camper (will dead end this one)
white ground for battery and camper (can bypass the heavy gauge white if you need to rewire, which is what I am going to do because I dont use the camper battery)
Green- Stop and night lighting (usually connect to brown of truck four way)
Red- left turn (usually connect to yellow of truck four way)
Brown- right turn (usually connect to green of truck four way)
