Rockwood Ultra Lite 8265 WS

I have a 2011 8265 WS on order and was hoping to connect with someone who has one to ask a few questions of you. Thanks, Larry.

Hi and welcome Larry.
I know your question was asked a while back but maybe I can help.
I have a 2011 8285WS. What did you want to know?

Hi John and Lou. Happy New Year to both of you. One question for you Lou is the height of your fifth wheel. I hope to get into my shed which has a clear opening of 11'-11" for height. Did you ever measure the height of your fifth wheel? I will be picking up our unit on the 7th. Laqrry.

I have (the best I could at the time as I was alone on the roof and my wife was holding a ruler against the side of the camper). The highest point on the camper is the leading edge of my Coleman Mach II air conditioner when hooked up to the truck (the only way to measure it).

I put a long 2x4 across the leading edge of the AC and crawled to the edge and dropped the 25 foot tape ruler to the ground. My wife read the distance while I balanced the 2x4 and held the "dumb" end. Since I was not happy with the 11' 9.5" she called up; I use 12 foot as my maximum clearance. I have squeaked under a refueling canopy that was marked 12 feet without breaking the fluorescent light tubes but it was VERY close. I was sweating bullets since I could not see the light fixtures or the airconditioner; nor could I verify the actual height of his canopy.

Mine is a little higher on my Rockwood. FR says 12' 3". I almost forgot one day pulling into a gas station with a overhand with a security camera hanging down.
You should make it in your 11' 11" shed. If not just lower the tire pressure.

I talked to my dealer about it today so he measured for me. He told me that it is under 11'-10" and I have 11'-11" of clearance. Close but should work. My grandson will be on a ladder watching so we will proceed cautiously and see. Thanks for the tip on the tires as well. If it is a problem they are able to put a low profile A/C unit on which would give 3" additional clearance for $765.00 additional which is a solution. Thanks for your imput. Larry.

Hmmm. I should give my wife more credit. Looks like she is just fine with the "smart" end of the ruler.

The fifth-wheel is in the shed with 2" to spare. Seems like a nice camper. Thanks again for your help on this forum. Larry.

Congrats on geting your new rig.
Now make sure everythings workand looks right. This is a good time to test all the appliances now and not wait until spring.
Did you know you can buy a second year warranty from Forest River for $150 ? This is 100% bumper to bumper excluding tires, brakes and things that you can wear out.

You need to decide within 10 days after purchasing your trailer.
Here is the form but you should call Forest River to double check the cost.

John, thanks for the information on the extended warranty. We did decide to extend it for the second year. The fifth wheel came in in very good condition except for where the TV lowers down below the countertop. That portion of the top on the TV was warped, however my dealer is getting a new one from FR and I told them that I would install it. We picked it up in a snow storm so I gave the outside a good cleaning to get the salt off. It fit in the shed well and I could open up all the slides and check things out. I painted a 3" yellow line on the floor and hung a flourescent strip light vertically directly above the yellow line which provided a great target for backing in. (Should have done that a few years ago). I now need to provide a depth indicator, but haven't figured that out yet. I am very pleased with our dealer as well as everything was explained well and they have been very helpful throughout the process. I believe I got a decent price as well. As you can tell so far I am pleased but we will not be able to try it out until at least June as I have some surgery and recovery time coming up soon. Thanks again for everyones help. Larry.

We just picked up a very clean, seems to be flawless (hoping) 2012 Rockwood signature 8265WS. First time owners/RVers so any wisdom is welcome

We are heading to Goshen in a few days and hope to see one first hand at the plant. We are concerned that from the sofa it might be a problem viewing the television. Any thoughts on this?
