Roof Treatment

As in my sig I have a 2012 Windjammer 3001W. When I head north in a month it will be in florida all summer. People down here keep telling me I need to treat the roof against the harsh florida sun before I leave.

Does anyone do this and if so what do you use?

I plan on cleaning the roof, cleaning the slide toppers and awning before I pull the slides and awning in when leaving. Also plan on waxing the trailer.

I could always look through the mile of papers that came with the trailer (and still might) for an answer but it's much more fun to ask all of you experienced people.

A technician at Forest River told me to wash the roof twice a year with a mild cleanser, Spic n Span is one recommended brand, and to check the caulking for cracks.
He said not to waste my money on products that supposedly block UV radiation.
I do have a homemade shield for the awning that I put on when the rig is parked in my driveway. The awning faces west and gets a lot of sun so I figure the 2 lengths of plastic gutter material is cheap insurance for the awning.
