Rookwood 8288ss - Slideout underbelly trim replacement

I have to replace the right and left side slide out underbelly trim (not sure of the actual name but it kinda looks like a ski) on my large slide. The slide extends out about 41" and the piece that broke and needs to be replaced is a black plastic piece that slides on the ABS plastic block on the inside. (see pic of item I purchased from Forest River)
Anyway, I was looking to see if there was anyone who has replaced this item and if so, can you provide me some tips or tricks that would make it go easier. Also, I am going to need to lift and support each side of the slide while installing the ski. Is it ok to just place a 4x4 under the side and jack it up at the floor. Or will this damage something?

Thanks,
Tom G

Installed it this afternoon and it was fairly straight forward.

1. Extend the slide 3/4 of the way out and remove the screws holding the aluminum strap on the slide sidewall which is held in place by square drive screws
2. Pry the strap from the side of the slide using the paint scraper and clean the butyl tape from the strap.
3. Clean the old caulk from the slide siding.
4. Lift the slide enough to get the piece in and cut the trim piece to fit.
5. Pull the dbl sided tape and install the trim piece.
6. Apply butyl tape to the strap.
7. Screw the strap to the slide .
8. Caulk the top of the strap.
9. Lower the slide.
10. Have a beer for a job well done.

Entire process takes about 90min.

Needed tools:
#2 square drive screwdriver
Paint scraper and razor blade scraper
40-45" of 1" butyl tape
Dicor self-leveling caulk
Jack and wooden blocking

Hope it helps,
Tom G

Who is the manufacturer and what is the part number for the trim piece? Forest River stated that I have to purchase the trim piece through the dealer that I bought the RV from (and pay twice as much for it).

There was no identifying information on the part. The only information that I can provide is the part# that FR attributed to it on the invoice.
The PN# for the LH trim angle is 10-03354A and the PN# for the RH trim angle is 10-03356A. The price of each item was $10.52.

Hope it helps,
Tom G

One additional note is that the freight to ship both pieces it was $19.02. So even if your local dealer charges you double and you can get the pieces for around $20/ea from the dealer you would be no better off ordering them directly from FR.

Hope it helps,

Thanks for the part numbers. This will make it easier for the dealer to find the parts that I need.
